Danylo Getmantsev, chairman of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax, and customs policy, proposed requiring all State Tax Service inspectors to wear body cameras.
He wrote about this on Telegram.
He noted that this is currently being done on a selective basis.
“I understand why the tax authorities don’t like this. I understand why those taxpayers who don’t issue receipts and operate in the gray market don’t like this,” Getmantsev wrote.
According to him, the video recording eliminates any manipulation, abuse of power, bribery, or attempts to “sweep things under the rug,” and clearly settles the matter of “who is to blame?”
“But only if their use is universal and mandatory. For all tax officials. Otherwise, there’s no point at all. That’s why the fact that the State Tax Service defines the use of cameras as a right rather than an obligation is a cause for considerable concern,” Getmantsev emphasized.
He noted that in 2024, as part of the State Tax Service reform, body cameras were introduced for State Tax Service inspectors conducting on-site audits.
