Iryna Vereshchuk – Deputy Head of the President’s Office, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine (2021-2024), Mayor of Rava-Ruska (2010-2015).
Place of Birth, Education
Vereshchukwas born on November 30, 1979 in Rava-Ruska, Lviv region.
She was educated at the Military Institute at the Lviv Polytechnic National University (1997–2002).
In 2002-2006, she studied at the Faculty of Law of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, majoring in Jurisprudence.
Since 2011, Vereshchuk has been studying at the postgraduate school of the Lviv Regional Institute of Public Administration, and on November 11, 2015, she defended her dissertation and received a PhD in public administration.
In 2015-2016, she was a scholarship holder of the Lane Kirkland Program.
In July 2016, she completed her studies and received a diploma from the Regional School of Public Administration in Poland.
Career
After completing her studies at the Military Institute, Vereshchuk served as an officer in the Armed Forces of Ukraine for five years.
From May 2007 to June 2008, she worked as a lawyer in the Rava-Ruska City Council.
In the period from June to October 2010, she held the position of Deputy Head of the Zhovkva District State Administration (RSA), dealing with humanitarian issues and foreign policy.
From 2010 to 2015, she served as mayor of Rava-Ruska, and since 2016 she has headed the International Center for Baltic-Black Sea Studies and Consensus Practices.
Since September 2017, she has been working as an associate professor at the Department of Political Science at the Mykhailo Petrovych Drahomanov National Pedagogical University.
In particular, Vereshchuk is the founder of the limited liability company (LLC) “Ukrainian Amber Exchange”.
Political Activities
In the parliamentary elections in 2019, Vereshchuk won a deputy mandate, becoming a member of the Verkhovna Rada of the IX convocation. She was elected on the list of the political party “Servant of the People”.
In the Rada, she served as a member of the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence. She headed the subcommittee dealing with issues of state security and defense capability.
On September 4, 2019, Vereshchuk was appointed as the government’s representative in parliament. However, on November 15 of the same year, she resigned.
On November 4, 2021, the parliament approved her as Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine.
On September 5, 2024, the Rada decided to dismiss her from this position.
On September 8 of the same year, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Vereshchuk deputy head of the President’s Office.
