Denys Vyacheslavovich Maslov is a Ukrainian judge, lawyer, politician, MP of the IX convocation, chairman of the Committee on Legal Policy.
Place of Birth, Education
He was born on August 1, 1983 in Kryvyi Rih.
In the period from 1998 to 2000, he studied at the Dnipropetrovsk Lyceum of Information Technologies.
After graduating from the lyceum, in 2000, he entered the Faculty of Law of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University.
He also has a second higher education in Banking.
Career
During 2010 – 2020, he was engaged in advocacy, which he stopped after being elected to parliament. At the same time, in the period from 2013 to 2016, he worked as an insolvency trustee.
From 2016 to 2018, he served as a judge of the Dniprovskyi District Court of the city of Dniprodzerzhynsk.
In the period from 2019 to 2020, he headed the Dnipropetrovsk branch of the Ukrainian Bar Association. He was a delegate to the Legal Assembly of the Ukrainian Bar Association from the Dnipropetrovsk region. He was a member of the Regional Council for Justice Sector Reforms.
In 2020, he headed the Committee for the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses at the Dnipropetrovsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In addition, he held senior positions in a number of law firms, in particular, he was the managing partner of the Lowatec Law Firm and the director of the limited liability company (LLC) “Avin Trade”.
Political Activities
During the 2019 presidential election, Maslov was a confidant of presidential candidate Volodymyr Zelensky in territorial constituency No. 26 in the city of Dnipro.
On June 11, 2020, he became a People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the IX convocation, replacing Oleksandr Tkachenko, who was appointed Minister of Culture of Ukraine. He took the position of Chairman of the Committee on Legal Policy.
He also headed the group on inter-parliamentary relations with Tajikistan and was a member of the groups on inter-parliamentary relations with the United States of America (USA) and Indonesia. He was a member of the Temporary Commission on the Protection of Investors’ Rights, as well as the Temporary Commission on the Investigation of Illegal and Ineffective Measures in the Field of Management and Deregulation of Land Relations.
At one time, he headed the Committee on Legal Policy. He participated in the work of inter-parliamentary liaison groups, temporary investigative and special commissions, as well as working groups whose activities were related to the reform of the judicial system, the work of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine (CCU) and the restoration of justice in wartime.
As the chairman of the committee, he was involved in the preparation and support of legislative changes in the field of the judiciary, procedures for the selection and career of judges, disciplinary liability and competitive mechanisms.
