Vadym Olegovich Sukharevskyi – Commander of the Forces of Unmanned Systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (2024 – present time).
Place of Birth, Education
Sukharevskyi was born on October 6, 1984 in the city of Berehove in Transcarpathia.
He received his education at the Mukachevo Lyceum with enhanced military-physical training, and later studied at the Lviv Institute of Land Forces of the Lviv Polytechnic National University, where he mastered the specialty “Combat Use and Control of Airmobile Units” and completed his studies in 2009.
Later he continued his education at the National Defense University of Ukraine named after Ivan Chernyakhovsky.
Career
After completing his studies at the military lyceum, Sukharevskyi served in the 92nd separate airmobile regiment stationed in the Lviv region.
In 2004, he joined the peacekeeping mission in Iraq, as part of the 6th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
In 2011, he was appointed to the post of commander of the airmobile company of the 80th separate airmobile regiment.
Since 2014, he has participated in the war with Russia. In particular, on April 13 of the same year, he took part in the first battle in the Donbas near the village of Semenivka.
In 2016, he headed the 1st Line Battalion of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade.
In 2021, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the 35th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrogradskyi.
In February 2022 was appointed commander of the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Yakiv Handziuk. He led the offensive of the Defense Forces of Ukraine between Mykolaiv and Kherson. Units under his leadership were among the first to enter the territory of the Kherson region and were able to break through the enemy’s defensive lines.
On June 10, 2024, according to the order of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, he was appointed to the post of Commander of the Forces of Unmanned Systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
He has the military rank of colonel. He received the title of Hero of Ukraine on June 18, 2022.
Marital Status
Married. He has a son and a daughter.
