Vasyl Vasylovych Burba—Colonel General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (2016–2020)

He was born on January 1, 1970.
He received his education at the National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine, where he majored in law.
Career
He served for a long time in the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). In particular, he took part in combat operations in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) zone.
On October 15, 2016, by decree of then-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Bruba was appointed head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense.
He was a member of the Interagency Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation and Export Control Policy.
On August 5, 2020, incumbent President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed him from his post as head of military intelligence.
He has been practicing law since 2020 and is a member of the Kyiv Bar Association.
Awards and Titles
In 2011, Burba received the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, 3rd Class, and in April 2016, he was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, 2nd Class, for conducting intelligence and agent operations.
In August 2016, he was promoted to the rank of major general.
A year later, in 2017, he was promoted to lieutenant general. In 2018, he was promoted to colonel general.
