Zlata Ognevich

Zlata Ognevich is a Ukrainian singer, People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the VIII convocation from the “Radical Party of Oleg Lyashko”.

Place of Birth, Education

She was born on January 12, 1986 in Murmansk.

She spent her childhood in the Crimean Sudak, where she began to study music.

In Kyiv, she graduated from the Glier Music College, after which she entered the Kyiv Institute of Music, where she studied at the Department of Jazz Vocals.

Career

Before starting her solo career, Ognevich gained experience as part of the State Song and Dance Ensemble of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

In 2010, she was one of the five finalists of the national selection for Eurovision, where she sang a version of the song “Island”.

The following year, with the composition “The Kukushka”, she again reached the final of the Ukrainian selection for Eurovision 2011.

She also became the voice of the advertising campaign of the Korona trademark, performing the song “Passion”, which received the title of “Song of the Year – 2010”.

Ognevich was named “Person of the Year – 2010” by Google – according to the final review of Zeitgeist 2010 search queries.

In December 2012, she won the national selection for Eurovision with the song “Gravity” and in May 2013 she represented Ukraine at the 58th Song Contest held in Malmö, Sweden, where she took third place.

On November 30, 2013 in Kyiv, together with Timur Miroshnichenko, she hosted the 11th Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

In January 2014, Ognevich, together with the Donetsk Choir, took second place in the television project “Battles of the Choirs”, which was broadcast on the 1+1 channel.

At the end of August 2018, she took part in the show “Dancing with the Stars” – her partner was Dmitry Zhuk. However, after the second broadcast, according to the results of the audience vote, the couple left the project.

On December 18, 2018, her first studio album – “Edges” – was premiered, including eight tracks.

In 2021, it was announced that Ognevich would become the main character of the second season of the Ukrainian reality show “The Bachelorette” on the STB TV channel.

Political Activities

In the fall of 2014, Ognevich was elected a people’s deputy in the early parliamentary elections. She became a member of the Verkhovna Rada on the list of the “Radical Party of Oleg Lyashko”. In the parliament, she headed the subcommittee on creative activities, arts and culture.

On November 10, 2015, she announced her intention to resign as a deputy. Already on December 22 of that year, the Rada supported the decision and deprived her of her mandate.
