Edward Thomas Hardy is a British theater and film actor, producer and screenwriter.

He was born on September 15, 1977 in Hammersmith, England. He spent his childhood in East Shin, London.
His mother, Anne, came from a family of Irish Catholics and was engaged in painting, and his father, Edward Hardy, worked as a comedy writer.
Hardy was educated at Reeds and Tower House, attended the Richmond Theatre School, and later entered the Drama Centre London, where he studied under a teacher who had previously worked with Anthony Hopkins.
Career
2002 – 2010
Hardy began his acting career with roles in military dramas, including playing American soldier John Yanovich in the miniseries Brothers in Arms (2001). In the same year, he made his debut in a big movie – he starred in Ridley Scott’s war thriller Black Hawk.
In 2002, Gael Garcia Bernal starred with him in the independent film “Dots over the i”.
After that, he moved to North Africa, where he worked on the film “Simon: English Legionnaire”, which tells the events related to the French Foreign Legion.
In the same year, Hardy Ohheld the first significant role of his career, playing the Rehman praetor Shinzon – a clone of Captain Jean-Luc Picard – in the science fiction film Star Trek: Retribution.
He later returned to the UK to take part in the filming of the thriller LD50: Lethal Dose (2003).
In 2003, Hardy received the London Evening Standard Theatre Award for his debut in plays based on the plays Blood and In Arabia, We’d All Be Kings, which were staged at the Royal Court Theatre and Hampstead Theatre.

2010 – 2020
In early 2010, Hardy played in the production of “The Long Red Road” based on the play by Brett C. Leonard, staged at Chicago’s Goodman Theater. In the play, he played the role of Sam – a man who is trying to drown his past in alcohol. At the same time, his performance was highly appreciated by theater critics.
In the same year, the actor appeared in Christopher Nolan’s fantastic thriller “Inception”, where he played the role of Eames – one of the main members of the team that penetrates the subconscious.
In 2011, he starred in the sports drama “Warrior”, in which he played the son of Paddy Conlon, the hero of Nick Nolte. In the same year, he also starred in the spy thriller “Spy, Get Out”.
The following year, the actor starred in the final part of Christopher Nolan’s trilogy “The Dark Knight: Rise of a Legend“, embodying the image of the antagonist – Bane.
In 2014, two films were released in which Hardy played the main roles: the dramatic thriller “Lock” and the crime drama “Common Stock”. In 1999, Hardy married Sarah Ward, but 5 years later they divorced.
From his relationship with Rachel Speed, he has a son, Louis Hardy, who was born in 2008.
In 2009, during the filming of the film “Wuthering Heights”, Hardy met actress Charlotte Riley. In July 2010, he proposed to her, and in 2014 the couple got married in the south of France. The marriage had two sons – Leo Hardy in 2015 and Forrest Hardy in 2018.
