Tina Karol

Tina Karol (Tatyana Grigorievna Lieberman) is a Ukrainian singer, actress and TV presenter, People’s Artist of Ukraine (2017).

Place of Birth, Education

She was born on January 25, 1985 in the Magadan region.

At the age of six, she moved to Ukraine with her family, settling in Ivano-Frankivsk. After receiving secondary education, she moved to Kyiv, where she began professional musical training.

She graduated from a music school in the piano class, and later – the Kyiv Higher Music College named after Reinhold Glier. In addition, she received correspondence education at the Faculty of Management and Logistics at the National Aviation University.

Career

She won more than 25 Grand Prix and first places at various international festivals and competitions. Among the achievements are the third prize at the “Jazz Singer” competition, the first prizes at the festivals “Golden Trembitas”, “Young Stars of the Carpathians”, “Your Talents, Ukraine”, “Helmet, Ukraine”, as well as the second prize at the “Christmas Meetings at the Blues Brothers”.

She participated in the Black Sea Games, where she received the third prize, and won the Grand Prix at the Golden Current competition. She also received the first prize at the festival “Under One Star” and participated in the festivals “We are your children, Ukraine” and “Seven Cultures”. At the festival, “Young Galicia” took second place, and at “Edelweiss” – first.

She also played the main roles in the play “Spirits Day”, the musicals “Equator” and “Assol”, as well as in the television productions “Carnival Night” and “Star Vacation”. She also represented Ukraine at the gala concert of the Slavic Bazaar festival.

In 2005, she won second place at the International Vocal Competition “New Wave”, where she was also awarded a special prize.

In 2006, she represented Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Show Me Your Love”, taking seventh place.

She participated in television projects on the 1+1 channel as the host of the shows “I Want to Be a Star” and “Dancing with the Stars”, where her partner was showman Yuriy Gorbunov.

Over the years, she was the coach of the vocal show “The Voice of the Country”: in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. She also played the role of a coach in the children’s version of the show “The Voice. Children” in 2012, 2015 and 2016.

In February 2020, she became a member of the jury of the national selection, during which the representative of Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 was determined.

Awards

Karol has been awarded a number of titles, including “Woman of the Year”, “Discovery of the Year” and “Outstanding Person of the Year”. She received the Order for participation in peacekeeping missions, as well as the Golden Pen diploma in recognition of her contribution to the development of Ukrainian culture. According to the decree of President Viktor Yushchenko, she was awarded the medal “For Labor and Courage”.

In 2017, she was awarded the honorary title of People’s Artist of Ukraine. In 2014, 2015 and 2018, she was recognized as the best performer of Ukraine according to the YUNA award. According to the M1 Music Awards, Karol received a similar title in 2015 and 2017.

In 2020, she was awarded the Order of Princess Olga, III degree.

Marital Status

In 2008, the singer married her producer Evgeny Ogir. In the same year, on November 17, the couple had a son.

On April 29, 2013, Ogir died due to stomach cancer.
