Militsa Bogdanovna Jovovich (Milla Jovovich) is an American actress, singer, model and fashion designer.

She was born on December 17, 1975 in Kyiv.
The grandmother of the future actress was from Ukraine. Jovovich’s mother, Galina Loginova, graduated from school in Dnepropetrovsk (now Dnipro), and in 1972 she completed her studies at the Russian All-Union State Institute of Cinematography. After graduation, she returned to Ukraine and from 1973 to 1980 worked as an actress at the Oleksandr Dovzhenko Film Studio, after which she emigrated.
Jovovich spent the first 5 years of her life in Ukraine. She attended a kindergarten in Dnipro for almost a year, and later lived with her mother in Kyiv.
In January 1981, the family emigrated to the United States of America (USA).
Career
Jovovich began working in the modeling business at the age of 9. The first appearance was the cover of the Italian magazine “Lei”. Subsequently, the famous American photographer Richard Avedon offered her a photo shoot for the magazine “Mademoiselle”. When the editors found out about the age of the model, the picture was hastened to be removed from publication, but after Avedon’s intervention, the photos were returned. This situation became a topic of discussion in American talk shows for several months due to the issue of involving minors in show business.
While in the 7th grade, Jovovich dropped out of school to focus fully on her modeling career.
In 1994, she received US citizenship.
She made her film debut at the age of 13. The first role was the embodiment of the younger sister of the heroine Sherilyn Fenn in the film “The Merger of Two Months”.
After that, she appeared in the films “Return to the Blue Lagoon” in 1991, “Cuffs”, where she played the main role, as well as in the film “Chaplin” in 1992, where she played Mildred Harris. In addition, she starred in the film “His Game” and in “Night Train to Kathmandu”.
The most famous and recognized were her roles as the superheroine Lila in the film “The Fifth Element” and Joan of Arc in the film “The Messenger: The Joan of Arc Story” directed by Luc Besson.
In parallel with her acting career, Jovovich worked in advertising. She participated in Revlon’s “World’s Most Unforgettable Women” campaign and also signed contracts with brands Hugo Boss, Guess and Calvin Klein.
Since 1998, she has become the advertising face of the L’Oreal brand.

Since childhood, Jovovich studied vocals and learned to play the piano. She began to master playing the electric guitar at the age of 13, and began recording at the age of 15.

In 1993, her composition “The Alien Song” became the soundtrack to the film “High and Embarrassed”.
A year later, Jovovich released her debut album “The Divine Comedy”. In 1992, Jovovich married her partner in the film “High and Embarrassed” Sean Andrews. However, after 2 months they broke up.
Subsequently, she married in Las Vegas with director Luc Besson, who was 17 years older than her. They divorced in 1999.
On August 22, 2009, she married director Paul Anderson. During the marriage, they had 3 children: Ever Gabo Anderson on November 3, 2007, Dashill Eden Jovovich-Anderson on April 1, 2015, and Oshyn Lark Elliot Jovovich-Anderson on February 2, 2020.
