Konstantin Nikolaevich Bocharov (Mélovin) is a Ukrainian singer, winner of “X-Factor” (2015), representative of Ukraine at the 63rd Eurovision Song Contest.
Place of Birth, Education
He was born on April 11, 1997 in Odessa in the family of Nikolai and Valentina Bocharov.
Since childhood, he was drawn to creativity. During his studies, he put on school numbers, organized concerts and performed in them himself.
In particular, he attended a music school, which he later left and moved to a theater school.
Career
“X-Factor”
At one time, he applied for selections for the vocal project “X-Factor”, but never reached television castings. During the sixth season in 2015, he finally appeared on stage in front of the judges and after performing the song “Without a Fight” by the band “Okean Elzy”, he received an invitation to the training camp.
Later, he got into live broadcasts and reached the super final, where, according to the results of the audience voting, he became the winner. During his participation in the project, he performed compositions by Stas Shurins, Tom Odell, Adele, Jamala, Valeriy Meladze, Yurko Yurchenko and the bands Okean Elzy, Muse, Rianoboy, MBAND, The Rasmus and Scriabin.
After the final, he went on a concert tour of Ukraine together with other participants in the show.
Eurovision Song Contest
At the end of 2016, the singer applied for the national selection for the 62nd Eurovision Song Contest. On January 17, 2017, he was announced among the participants in the semifinals. According to the draw, he performed in the third semi-final with his own composition “Wonder”.
After the ratings of the audience and the jury, Mélovin made it to the final of the national selection, where it received the highest score from the audience for the second time, but in the evaluation of the jury it became fifth. According to the total result, he finished the selection in 3rd place.
On November 10, 2017, he presented his debut album “Face to Face”, which included five English-language compositions and one track in Ukrainian. Ruzhynski, Mickey Mike, and Ashley Hicklin also worked on the release.
In December, during a guest appearance on the “X-Factor”, the singer announced that he plans to take part in the 2018 selection.
On February 17, he performed in the second semi-final, receiving 9 points from the audience (1st place) and 8 points from the jury (2nd place), after which he advanced to the final, where he won on February 24 and became the representative of Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Portugal with the song “Under The Ladder”.
On the eve of the first semi-final, the artist presented the author’s perfume “Black Gas”, created specifically for the competition.
In Lisbon, Mélovin played in the second semi-final on May 10, 2018. In the final, the artist opened the show, performing under the first number, and finished the competition in 17th place.
Further career
In 2019, he presented two compositions for the series “Newcomer” – “Sails” and “On the Hype”, and also appeared in the final series as himself.
In 2021, he joined the Mask project, where he performed as a Giraffe and won the final, which took place on December 25, 2021.
On November 9, 2023, Mélovin was included in the longlist of participants in the national selection for Eurovision 2024. Subsequently, he was announced among the 10 finalists with the song “DREAMER”.
On February 3, 2024, he performed in the final of the selection, receiving 9 points from the jury and 9 points from the audience, after which he took 3rd place. Above were the band Ziferblat with the song “Place I Call Home” and the winners alyona alyona and Jerry Heil with the track “Teresa & Maria”.
During Eurovision 2025, Mélovin was one of the members of the Ukrainian jury. The composition was determined by voting in the Diia application. Mélovin gave the highest score to Germany for the song “Baller” performed by Abor & Tynna, and gave the second and third positions to Estonia with the song “Espresso Macchiato” by Tommy Cash and Luxembourg with “La poupée monte le son” performed by Laura Thorne.
Marital Status
In July 2021, Mélovin publicly declared his bisexuality during an appearance at Atlas Weekend 2021.
On November 23, 2025, he became engaged to a paramedic of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Independence Square.
