Dmitry Sergeevich Monatik is a Ukrainian singer, dancer, songwriter, sound producer, composer.
Place of Birth, Education
He was born on April 1, 1986 in Lutsk. My father worked at an aircraft engine factory and at the same time was engaged in the manufacture of foam rubber. Mother served as a secretary in the city executive committee. Over time, my parents started their own small business.
In 2003, he entered the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management (IAPM) at the Faculty of Law. During his studies, he devoted a lot of time to music and dance.
In the period from 2000 to 2006, he was a member of the Lutsk breakdance band “DBS Crew”.
Career
2008 – 2010
In 2008, Monatik reached the final casting of the Star Factory-2 project, but did not take part. In the same year, singer Natalia Mogilevskaya invited him to work in her ballet during the concert program “Real O”. He agreed to the offer and moved to Kyiv.
During this same period, he founded his first musical group “Monatique”. As part of the group, he gave two live concerts in Lutsk.
In 2009, Monatik passed the casting for the ballet “D’arts” and worked in it for 2 years.
The following year, he took part in the play “Girl with Matches”, which was staged by ballet director Nikolai Boychenko.
2010 – 2015
In the summer of 2010 and 2011, Monatik worked as part of the ballet “D’arts”, and was also a member of the official ballet “Republic of Kazantip”.
In particular, he released the first song “TaiUletay”. A video was shot for the composition, which was recorded using a mobile phone.
During the year, the singer was invited to participate in the filming of videos by various famous performers. He starred in the video of Potap and Nastya Kamensky “Vykrutasy”, the band “Infinity” “Nu i may”, as well as INKA “Pump it”. In addition, he worked as a choreographer-director of Yolka’s video “On a Big Air Balloon”.
In August 2012, he first declared himself as a composer, presenting Svitlana Loboda’s track “40 degrees” at the Crimea Music Fest festival. In the same year, he worked as a composer in several episodes of the project “Alyo, Director!” with Loboda on the TET TV channel.
In November,he performed on the stage of the show “X-Factor” as a guest artist.
After the release of the songs “Vozdukh”, “TerrorizirU. E.t” and “Important” Monatik held a casting for his own ballet. Together with the team, he gave concerts in Ukraine, Belarus and Russia.
In April 2013, he wrote the song “Myself” for Eva Bushmina, which became her debut solo work. In the same year, his compositions “Prosty…”, “Soundtrack of today” and “DyM” were released, as well as the premiere of the video for the song “Prosty…”.
In June, a video for the track “Keys” was presented, which Monatik recorded together with his fellow countryman – Lutsk rapper KOVALERO.
On November 8, the artist presented a new single “Smiling” with the slogan “Live, love, fight – “Smiling”.
On December 12, 2014, during a large-scale solo concert in Kyiv, Monatik presented his debut album “Soundtrack of Today’s Day (S. S. D.)”.
In June, the premiere of the video “In the Best Light” took place. Later, Monatyk presented the Ukrainian-language song “Maybe it’s enough.”
2015 – 2020
At the beginning of 2015, the singer recorded 2 duets for his own songs – with Anna Sedokova, the track “Silence”, and with the Quest Pistols Show group, the composition “Wet”. Videos were shot for both songs.
The following year, he presented his second studio album “Sounds”, which included 16 compositions.
On May 9, 2017, he performed at the opening of the first semi-final of Eurovision 2017, where he performed the song “Spinning” in the English version of “Spinning”.
In the fall of 2017, he became a member of the jury of the dance show “Dancing with the Stars” and released a joint song “This Day” with Nina Matvienko. In July, he presented a duet with Nadezhda Dorofeeva “Deep”.
In 2019, Monatik performed at the Olympic Stadium. Before that, only Svyatoslav Vakarchuk managed to assemble the main sports arena of the country.
2020 – tep. Time
In July 2021, the singer presented his first solo composition in 2 years “Ignite/JoMo”. The video for the song was shot by Ukrainian director Tanya Muinho.
In December, he released a cover of the song by the Scriabin group “Old Photos” from the album “Tango” in 2005. The composition became the soundtrack to the film based on the story by Andrei Kuzmenko “I, “Victory” and Berlin”.
Marital Status
Monatik’s wife’s name is Irina. The couple has three sons:

- Danila in 2017;
- Leon in 2024.
