The future actress grew up in the family of Dennis Alan Taylor, who previously worked as a banker, and psychologist Jennifer Marina Joy. Her father has Argentine, English and Scottish roots, while her mother was born in Zambia to an Englishman and a Spanish woman from Barcelona.
Taylor-Joy became a US citizen because she was born in Miami while her parents were on vacation.
She spent her childhood in Buenos Aires, where she studied until the age of 6, after which her family moved to London. Adapting to a new country was not easy for her: for 2 years, she deliberately did not study English and communicated exclusively in Spanish, hoping that this would force her parents to return to Argentina. However, thanks to her uncle, who read her books about “Harry Potter” in English, Anya gradually began to accept the new language environment.
Career
Until the age of 15, she was actively engaged in ballet. She could have built a career as a ballerina if not for one “but”. At the age of 17, Taylor-Joy was spotted by representatives of the modeling agency Storm Management near the Harrods department store in London.
At the initial stage of her career, Taylor-John mainly starred in horror films, including “Morgan”, “Split”, “Thoroughbreds” and “The Witch”, but over time she was able to expand the range of her roles.
