Yuriy Serhiyovych Fedorenko is a Ukrainian politician, human rights activist, public figure, and military officer.
Place of Birth, Education
He was born on April 26, 1991, in the village of Nosachiv, Smila District, Cherkasy Oblast.
He took up weightlifting in 5th grade, and after 9th grade, he enrolled in a vocational school, where he earned a certification as a pastry chef.
In 2017, he graduated with honors from the National Academy of Internal Affairs with a degree in “law,” and in 2021, he graduated from the University of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine with a degree in “public management and administration.”
In 2025, he received a master’s degree in international law from the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University.
Career
From 2009 to 2015, he served on a contract basis in the National Guard of Ukraine ( NGU). He held the position of senior hand-to-hand combat instructor in a special operations company.
The Russian-Ukrainian War
In 2014, Fedorenko took part in combat operations in eastern Ukraine during the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO).
On February 16, 2022, he signed a contract with the Territorial Defense Forces (TDF) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). From the start of the full-scale invasion, he began fighting on the front lines. He took part in battles to liberate the Kyiv, Kharkiv, Luhansk, and Donetsk regions.
He was later appointed commander of the 4th Company of the 128th Battalion, 112th Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces. He pioneered the use of aerial reconnaissance in his unit.
In September 2022, a group of drones under his command struck enemy positions near the villages of Vovchyi Yar and Stepove. This enabled Ukrainian forces to advance toward Ivanivka. That same month, his company carried out stabilization operations in Ivanivka, Shevchenkove, and Mykolaivka, where they identified enemy fire spotters.
A year later, in February, on his initiative, the 4th Company of the 128th Battalion of the 112th Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces was attached to the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Koshovy Ataman Ivan Sirko in the Kharkiv region.
Fedorenko also helped establish an analytical center to collect and analyze intelligence on the enemy and transmit it promptly to command headquarters. In particular, he organized a video feed to monitor the front lines and coordinate offensive operations.
On February 9, 2023, he took command of one of the first companies of the “ACHILLES” unmanned aerial combat systems within the 92nd Mechanized Brigade. Two years later, the unit was expanded into a separate “ACHILLES” unmanned systems regiment (429th Unmanned Systems Regiment), and in January 2026, it was expanded into a brigade.
Political Activities
On December 15, 2016, Fedorenko co-founded the civic organization “Stop Arbitrariness.” Just one year later, he founded the human rights organization “Tverdynia. “
In 2020, he joined the board of the Dnipro District Organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society. That same year, on October 25, he was elected to the Kyiv City Council as a representative of the “Servant of the People” party.
On December 11, 2020, he founded the nonprofit organization “Yuriy Fedorenko’s Dnipro Initiatives.”
In November 2021, he became head of the Kyiv City Council’s working group on the misuse of land in the capital.
Marital Status
On May 16, 2018, he married Alina Korniets, the director of the limited liability company (LLC) “Um Ti Company,” but filed for divorce in August 2023.
On April 24, 2024, he married People’s Deputy Maria Mezentseva. A year later, the couple had a son, Theodore.
