Place of Birth, Education
He was born on September 7, 1962, in Chervonyi Luch, Luhansk Oblast.
In 1981, he graduated from the Starobilsk State Agricultural Technical School with a degree in veterinary medicine, and in 1999, he graduated from the Luhansk Shevchenko State Pedagogical University, where he earned a degree in history education.
In 2000, he earned two more degrees—he graduated from the Daly Eastern Ukrainian National University with a master’s degree in management and from the Luhansk Institute of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine with a degree in law.
Career
In 1981, Danilov was a veterinary assistant at the farm attached to the Voroshilovgrad Fruit and Mineral Water Plant.
From 1983 to 1987, he worked as a veterinarian at “Zookutok” in 1 May Park in Voroshilovgrad.
In 1987, he founded the “Bilyi Leleka” cooperative and ran it until 1990. After that, from 1991 to 1994, he was involved in private business and headed the “Vira” Small Private Enterprise in Luhansk.
From 1999 to 2002, Danilov worked as a senior lecturer in the Department of Management at Daly University, and from 2002 to 2007, he served as deputy director of the Institute for European Integration and Development.
Political Activities
From July 1994 to September 1997, he served as chairman of the Luhansk City Council.
From 1996 to 1997, he was a member of the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (United).
From June 2000 through 2005, he was a member of the political council of the Yabloko party, where he served as deputy chairman beginning in October 2002.
In 2000, Danilov served as an advisor to the parliamentary committee on industrial policy and entrepreneurship.
From 2001 to February 2005, he founded and led the nongovernmental organization “Luhansk Initiative. “ At the same time, until 2005, he remained in the leadership of the “Yabloko” party—he was a member of its political council, and from 2002 onward, he served as deputy chairman.
During the 2004 presidential campaign, Danilov headed Viktor Yushchenko’s campaign headquarters in Luhansk.
From February through November 2005, he served as head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration ( RSA).
From May 2006 to November 2007, he served as a member of parliament representing the “Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc. “ In the Verkhovna Rada, he served on the committee responsible for state-building, regional policy, and local self-government.
In September 2007, he ran again in the parliamentary elections—this time as a candidate for the “Party of Free Democrats.”
In the summer of 2019, Danilov briefly served as deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC)—from July 23 to October 3.
On October 3, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed him Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. Danilov served in this position until March 26, 2024.

Danilov is married and has four children.
