Ruslan Romanovych Martsinkiv – Mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk (2015 – present).
Place of Birth, Education
He was born on November 22, 1979 in the city of Bobrovytsia, Chernihiv region.
He received his higher education at Ivano-Frankivsk State Technical University, where he first graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Enterprise Economics, and later received a master’s degree in Public Service.
He also studied at King Danylo University, where he received a master’s degree in law. He has a PhD in Law.
Career
Since 2001, Martsinkiv has worked as an economist in private companies. At the beginning of 2003, he headed the Children’s and Youth Plast Center in Ivano-Frankivsk, where he remained as director until 2005.
During 2007-2010, he led the organization “Plast” in Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi regions.
Political Activities
In 2002, Martsinkiv ran for the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council from the public organization “Institute of City Development”, but could not get enough votes to pass.
In 2005, he worked for several months as an assistant to the deputy mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk for the activities of the executive bodies of the city council.
From 2006 to 2010, he was a deputy of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Council, where he was elected from the Our Ukraine bloc. He headed the commission on youth policy, physical culture and sports.
In 2010, he was elected to the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council, where he took the position of secretary. In the elections, he ran for the All-Ukrainian Union “Svoboda” party.
In 2012, he became a people’s deputy of the VII convocation from “Svoboda”.
In the 2014 parliamentary elections, he was again a candidate for people’s deputies on the list of the same party, but then the political force did not overcome the barrier.
In 2015, he won the mayoral election of Ivano-Frankivsk, representing Svoboda. At the same time, he also ran for city and regional councils.
In 2020, he was re-elected for a second term, receiving 84.78% of the vote in the first round.
Marital Status
He is married to Oksana Martsinkiv. The couple has a son, Svyatoslav, and a daughter, Solomiya.
