Terekhov Ihor Oleksandrovych – Mayor of Kharkiv (2021 – current time).
Place of Birth, Education
He was born on January 14, 1967 in Kharkiv.
In 1990 he graduated from the Kharkiv Civil Engineering Institute, majoring in Industrial and Civil Engineering.
In 2006, he graduated from the Kharkiv Regional Institute of Public Administration of the National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine. He received a master’s degree in public administration.
Career
He began his career in August 1990, working as a research intern at the Kharkiv Civil Engineering Institute.
Since 1994, he worked in the closed joint stock company (CJSC) “Industrial Company “Ukrconditioner” in Kharkiv.
In 1997, he took the position of Chairman of the Board of Shareholders and headed the Board of the Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC) “Kharkiv Plant “Air Conditioner”.
During 1999 – 2006 he worked in the Kharkiv City Council: at first he headed the Department of Entrepreneurship, later – the Department of the Consumer Market as part of the Main Department of Economy and Communal Property.
From April 2006 to 2007, he held the position of economic adviser in the department that ensured the activities of the leadership of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration (RSA).
On March 29, 2007, he was appointed deputy head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, which at that time was headed by Arsen Avakov.
Since April 2010, he has held the position of Deputy Mayor of Kharkiv, and in November of the same year, by the decision of the session of the Kharkiv City Council of the VI convocation, he was approved as Deputy Mayor for Development and Life Support of the city. Since September 2015, he has held the position of First Deputy Mayor.
Political Activities
In 2006, he participated in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada on the list of the Our Ukraine bloc, but did not pass.
In 2015, Terekhov was elected to the Kharkiv City Council of the VII convocation, where he was a member of the Standing Committee on Planning, Budget and Finance. He headed the deputy faction of the city council of the VII convocation “Opposition Bloc “Trust the Deeds”.
In 2020, he won the mandate of a deputy of the Kharkiv City Council of the VIII convocation, running for the political force “Kernes Bloc – Successful Kharkiv”.
On December 9, 2020, he was elected secretary of the Kharkiv City Council of the VIII convocation. After the death of Kernes, from December 17 of the same year, he served as the mayor of Kharkiv.
He was a candidate in the early mayoral elections held on October 31, 2021. The next day, the city territorial election commission declared him the winner.
On November 11, 2021, the Kharkiv Territorial Election Commission officially registered him as the mayor.

Single. He has three sons.
