Yevgen Komarovsky

Yevgen Olegovich Komarovsky is a pediatrician and television host.

Place of Birth, Education

He was born on October 15, 1960, in Kharkiv. His parents, who were native Kharkiv residents, were engineers by profession and worked at the turbine plant their entire lives.

In 1983, Komarovsky graduated from the Department of Pediatrics at the Kharkiv Medical Institute.

Career

In 1980, he began working as a nurse in the intensive care unit.

From 1983 to 1991, he worked as a doctor in the intensive care unit of the Kharkiv Regional Children’s Infectious Diseases Hospital, and for the next ten years he headed the hospital’s infectious diseases department .

Komarovsky is the author of a number of scientific papers and books. The best known of these is *A Child’s Health and the Common Sense of Their Relatives*, which has been reprinted more than 30 times in Ukraine and the Russian Federation (RF).

In 1993, his monograph *Viral Croup in Children* was published, for which he was awarded the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences in 1996. In particular, Komarovsky’s first popular science book, *The Beginning of Your Child’s Life*, was published. The second volume was published in 2000.

In 2006, he opened his own medical consulting center —the Komarovsky Clinic, “Klinikom.”

In 2002, he published “Disposable Diapers,” and in 2007, he released an updated and expanded edition of the book “Children’s Health and Their Relatives’ Common Sense.”

Between 2008 and 2009, Komarovsky published a series of new works: “Acute Respiratory Infections: A Guide for Sensible Parents,” “The Diary,” “The Cough Book,” “The Runny Nose Book,” and “36 and 6 Questions About Fever.” An audiobook titled “The Beginning of Your Child’s Life” was also released, along with the first part of “The Guide for Sensible Parents.” The second part of the guide— “Emergency Care”—was published in 2010.

In addition to his scientific work, Komarovsky has also gained popularity on television. He has appeared on various talk shows and served as a consultant on programs covering related topics.

In March 2010, his own television show, “Dr. Komarovsky’s School,” premiered on the Inter TV channel.

Political Activities

In 2019, during the presidential election, Komarovsky served as an advisor on medical issues to presidential candidate Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Marital Status

After completing his fourth year at the institute, he married his classmate, Kateryna Oleksandrivna, who works as a pediatric ophthalmologist.

The couple has two sons: Dmytro, who was born in 1982, and Andriy, who was born in 1988.
