Mykhailo Mudryk

Mykhailo Petrovich Mudryk is a Ukrainian football player, left winger of London Chelsea and the national team of Ukraine.

Place of Birth, Education

He was born on January 5, 2001 in the city of Krasnograd, Kharkiv region.

From early childhood, he became interested in football. He lived near the stadium, so he spent almost every day on the field, playing football with his comrades.

Later, the parents enrolled their son in the Academy of Kharkiv “Metalist”. Education at the children’s school took place according to the Dutch method: in addition to basic football training, young players were also necessarily engaged in athletics, gymnastics and swimming.

Subsequently, he continued training with Dnipro, and since 2016 – with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Club career

On October 31, 2018, Mudryk played for the first time for the main team of Shakhtar Donetsk. The coach of the team at that time was the Portuguese Paulo Fonseca. In the match of the 1/8 finals of the Cup of Ukraine against Olimpik Donetsk, the footballer entered the field in the 69th minute, replacing Junior Moraes. At that time, he was only 17 years old.

Due to the high competition for a place in Shakhtar, Mudryk played on loan for Arsenal Kyiv for some time. Later, he returned to Shakhtar, after which he went on loan to Chernihiv Desna for some time.

The rise in his career began after Italian Roberto De Zerbi became the head coach of Shakhtar in 2021. Under the guidance of his mentor, he began to get more playing time.

At the start of the 2021/2022 season, Mudryk scored an important goal in the match against Monaco, which helped Shakhtar reach the group stage of the Champions League. However, cooperation with coach Roberto De Zerbi did not last long due to the outbreak of a full-scale war.

With the arrival of new coach Ihor Jovicevic, Mudryk gained a foothold in Shakhtar’s first team and became one of the main players of the team.

In January 2023, the footballer signed a contract with London Chelsea for a period of 8.5 years – until June 30, 2030.

Chelsea

Mudryk could well have ended up not in Chelsea, but in London Arsenal – active negotiations continued with this club a few days before the transfer. The parties have almost reached an agreement, but the agreement has not been concluded. The reason was that Chelsea made a more lucrative offer, which suited Shakhtar

On January 15, 2023, Mudryk signed a contract with London Chelsea and received the number 15. The English club paid 70 million euros for the player, another 30 million are provided in the form of bonuses. Thus, it became the largest transfer in the history of the Ukrainian Premier League, as well as the most expensive transfer in the winter transfer window in the English Premier League.

Mudryk played his first match for Chelsea on January 21, 2023 in the English Premier League against Liverpool. He entered the field in the 55th minute, replacing Lewis Hall. The match ended in a draw – 0:0.

Mudryk scored his first goal for the new club on October 2, 2023 in a match with London Fulham. Subsequently, on October 21 of the same year, he scored again, this time in a game against Arsenal, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

In the Football League Cup match, which took place on December 19, Mudryk also scored a goal against Newcastle. In the penalty shootout, his shot secured victory for Chelsea.

In the match on December 27, 2023, Mudryk sent the ball into the goal of Crystal Palace at the start of the game. The meeting ended with a 2-1 victory for the Londoners.
