Ihor Syrota

Igor Grigorievich Syrota is a Ukrainian top manager, General Director of Ukrhydroenergo (2010 – 2025).

Place of Birth, Education

He was born on April 8, 1959 in the village of Gradivka, Horodotsky district, Lviv region.

In 1978, he completed his studies at the Lviv Medical School.

In the period from 1996 to 2001, he received higher education at the Lviv Commercial Academy. He studied the management of organizations and received the qualification of a manager.

Career

After graduating from Lviv Medical School, he worked in his specialty until 1997.

In the period from 1997 to 2005, Sirota held the position of General Director of the Limited Liability Company (LLC) “Press-Brook”.

From 2005 to 2006, he worked as an advisor to the Director General and headed the Main Department of Material and Technical Resources and Procurement Coordination at the State Administration of Railway Transport of Ukraine (“Ukrzaliznytsia”).

In 2006, he was Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of Ukraine for the State Material Reserve.

From 2006 to 2010, he was engaged in his own business.

Work at Ukrhydroenergo

Ukrhydroenergo is the operator of hydroelectric power plants in Ukraine. The company includes ten hydroelectric power plants located on the Dnieper and Dniester.

In March 2010, Syrota took the position of First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC) Ukrhydroenergo.

In March 2011, he was elected Chairman of the Board, and in June of the same year, he became the General Director of the Public Joint Stock Company (PJSC).

Since June 2017, he has held the position of General Director of the Private Joint Stock Company (PJSC) Ukrhydroenergo.

On May 28, 2025, it became known that Sirota was leaving the post of CEO. The official reasons for his dismissal were not announced. At the same time, the media reported that in recent weeks he had allegedly been under pressure, after which he submitted a letter of resignation of his own free will.

Until the appointment of the new General Director, the duties of the head were temporarily assigned to Bohdan Sukhetskyi, who holds the position of Deputy General Director for Commercial Affairs.

The company emphasized that Ukrhydroenergo continues to operate as usual, and all production processes, contracts, and obligations are fully fulfilled.

Marital Status

The orphan is married.

He has three children: a son and two daughters.
