Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio is an American actor and producer.

He was born on November 11, 1974 in Los Angeles, California, United States of America (USA) in the family of comic book author George DiCaprio and court clerk Irmelin Indenbirken.
When the future actor was one year old, George and Irmelin divorced, and the son remained with his mother.
He attended Sidd Elementary School, after which he entered the Los Angeles Center for Advanced Studies.
Career
He first appeared in front of the camera at the age of two and a half, when his father took him to a popular children’s TV show. He made his film debut at the age of five.
By the age of ten, the young actor managed to become disillusioned in the film business due to the agent’s insistence on changing his name, as well as refusals to play roles because of his appearance and hairstyle.
At the age of 14, DiCaprio decided to try himself again, after which he starred in more than 30 commercials and several episodes of the Santa Barbara series.
1991 – 2000
The actor’s first film was the comedy horror “Tooth Teeth 3”. He also starred in the TV series “Growth Problems” since 1991, but eventually left the project for a role in the film “This Guy’s Life. True Story”. Critics then praised the actor’s performance.
In 1993, DiCaprio, together with actor Johnny Depp, starred in the drama “Gnawing at Gilbert Grape”. This role brought the 19-year-old actor his first Oscar nomination and wide press attention.
In 1994, he appeared in the title role in the western “The Fast and the Dead”.

The tape became the highest-grossing in the history of world cinema, and DiCaprio received a Golden Globe nomination for this role and the status of one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood.
2000 – 2010
In 2002, the actor starred in Steven Spielberg’s crime tragicomedy “Catch Me If You Can”, based on the true story of the swindler Frank Abigail, who committed a series of daring scams in the 1960s. The film received rave reviews from critics and became one of the most successful in the actor’s career, earning him his third Golden Globe Award nomination.
In the same year, he first collaborated with director Martin Scorsese in the film “Gangs of New York”, which told about the confrontation between gangs of “native” Americans and immigrants in New York in the XIX century. The film was a great success among both viewers and critics.
After that, the actor and director decided to continue cooperation. The result was the film “The Aviator”, dedicated to the life of American aviator, businessman and director Howard Hughes. DiCaprio received his first Golden Globe and was nominated for an Academy Award.
In 2006, DiCaprio played in two films – “Blood Diamond” and “Departed”. In the drama “Blood Diamond”, he played the role of Danny Archer, a smuggler who, during the 1999 Sierra Leone Civil War, is involved in diamond trafficking. In 2012, Quentin Tarantino invited the actor to his spaghetti western “Django Unchained”. DiCaprio first played a negative character – the cynical and cruel slave owner Calvin Candy. This role earned him his ninth Golden Globe nomination.
In 2013, DiCaprio played the main role in the film adaptation of Francis Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby.
In the same year, DiCaprio teamed up with Scorsese again in the film “The Wolf of Wall Street”, based on the memoirs of Jordan Belfort, a former stockbroker convicted of fraud and money laundering. The role of Belfort brought the actor a second Golden Globe, as well as nominations for the Academy Awards and BAFTAs.
Since the fall of 2014, DiCaprio has been working on the film “Survivor” directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu. The film was released at the end of 2015 and brought DiCaprio his first Oscar for Best Actor. He also received a Golden Globe, BAFTA and a number of other prestigious awards.
On May 21, 2019, the Cannes Film Festival premiered Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, in which DiCaprio played the main role. For this film, he received his twelfth Golden Globe nomination, tenth Screen Actors Guild Award, fifth BAFTA and seventh Oscar nomination in the Best Actor category.
In 2023, DiCaprio teamed up again with director Scorsese. Together with Robert De Niro, he played the main role in the thriller-western “Flower Moon Killers”.

In the 1990s, DiCaprio was in a relationship with Danish model Helena Christensen.
From 2000 to 2005, he dated Brazilian top model Gisele Bündchen, and from 2006 to 2009 – with Israeli model Bar Rafaeli.
On March 26, 2010, DiCaprio and Rafaeli announced a break in their relationship, but in the summer of the same year they renewed it and even planned to get married. However, in May 2011, the New York Post reported that the couple finally broke up.
Since June 2011, the actor has been in a relationship with actress Blake Lively, but in early October of the same year it became known about their separation.
In December of the same year, he began dating Victoria’s Secret model Erin Heatherton, but in November 2012 they broke up due to busy work schedules.
In May 2013, he began a relationship with German model Toni Garrn, but their relationship ended at the end of 2014.
