Irina Nikolaevna Bilyk is a Ukrainian singer, composer, songwriter, TV presenter.
Place of Birth, Education
She was born on April 6, 1970 in Kyiv.
At the age of 5, she began to dance, and from the age of 6 she became a soloist of the children’s ensemble “Sun”.
In 1993, she completed her studies at the Kyiv State Music College named after Glier at the pop and vocal department.
Career
1989 – 2000
In 1989, Bilyk took part in the Chervona Ruta festival.
A year later, together with the musicians of the Ajax group – Yuri Nikitin, Georgy Uchaikin and Jean Bolotov – she founded the team “This Rain for a Long Time”. In 1991, the group began to cooperate with the Rostislav-Show agency.
In 1992, a video for the song “Only Yours” was shot, and the singer herself became a laureate of the international festival “Song Vernissage. New Ukrainian Wave”.
In 1993, together with the band, she took part in the festival “Maria” in Truskavets, and also performed at the first international festival “Slavic Bazaar” in Vitebsk.
In 1994, Bilyk first tried herself as a TV presenter – she hosted the New Year’s show “New Year’s Eve” on the UT-1 channel.
In 1995, she went on the all-Ukrainian concert tour “Nova”, within the framework of which she held her first big solo show on the stage of the National Palace “Ukraine”.
In 1996, she performed at the festival “Tavria Games” and received the music award “Golden Firebird” in two nominations at once – “Singer of the Year” and “Song of the Year” for the hit “So Simple”. In the same year, she was awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist of Ukraine.
In 1997, Bilyk won the Grand Prix of the Parade of Charts festival, and her song “So Simple” was recognized as the best composition of the previous year. She also received the Golden Firebird Award in the nominations “Singer of the Year” and “Album of the Year” for the disc “So Simple”.
In 1998, she again became the laureate of the “Golden Firebird” in the same nominations – “Singer of the Year” and “Album of the Year”, this time for the album “Paints”.
In 1999, at the NOVA records awards, Bilyk won in three categories at once: “Best Singer”, “Best Album” for the disc “Paints” and “Best Video Clip” for the work “And I Swim”.
During the same period, she became the advertising face of several brands and companies, including “Dirol Wild Berry”, the car “Peugeot 206” of the company “Ilta-Ukraine” and the Italian “Idea Studio”. Also then the release of the single “Sorry” took place.
2000 – 2010
In August 2002, she took part in the Yach Film festival in Poland, where she won the Honorary Yach award in the Discovery of the Year category.
In June 2004, she presented her first album in Russian called “Love. Poison”. Already in the first 10 days after the release, the record became platinum – the circulation exceeded 100 thousand copies sold.
In 2006, Bilyk received the “Showbiz AWARD” award in the category “Best Singer”.
In 2007, she took part in the television show “Dancing with the Stars – 2”, which was broadcast on the 1+1 TV channel.
In 2008, Bilyk was awarded the title of People’s Artist of Ukraine.
2010 – tep. Time
In 2013, she took part in the television project “Battle of the Choirs”, where she acted as a star coach.
In 2014, the presentation of her personalized perfume took place. In the same year, the singer recorded a duet with Boris Moiseev – the song “It doesn’t matter”, and the video for this composition was shot by the Moscow clip maker Aslan Akhmadov.
In Vitebsk, at the festival “Slavic Bazaar”, she was invited to the international jury as a representative from Ukraine. She also performed for the first time in Jurmala at the New Wave competition.
In the summer of 2014, Bilyk announced the termination of cooperation with producer Yuri Nikitin, and in September of the same year she presented the album “Dawn”.
In the spring of 2017, the singer’s next album was released – “Without Makeup”, and in February 2018 she went on a big concert tour “Without Makeup. The best. About love”.
On April 6, 2021, Iryna Bilyk’s album “Nova” was released on vinyl for the first time. In August of the same year, she became a judge on the show “Masquerade”.
Marital Status
Among the official and unofficial partners of Iryna Bilyk were Yuri Nikitin, a member of the group “This Rain for a Long Time” and producer of such projects as Verka Serduchka, “Aviator”, “NeAngels” and “Arktika”, as well as model Andriy Overchuk, from whose marriage a son Gleb was born in 1999.
In October 2007, she married professional dancer Dmitry Dikusar, with whom she performed in tandem in the show “Dancing with the Stars – 2”. In 2010, it became known that the couple broke up.
