Yevhen Halych is a Ukrainian soldier, rock musician, leader of the rock band O.Torvald, radio and TV presenter.
Place of Birth, Education
He was born on April 29, 1984 in the city of Bila Tserkva, Kyiv region. For the first eight years, the family lived in Kazakhstan due to their father’s military service.
At the age of 5, Galich went to a music school.
In 1994, he met the future guitarist of the band O.Torvald Denys Miziuk.
He received higher education at the Poltava Military Institute of Communications.
Career
2005 – 2015
During his studies at the institute, he worked at a radio station.
In 2006, after completing his studies, O. Torvald moved to Kyiv. At first, the band rented a two-room apartment on Darnytsia, but later they settled in a house on Tatarka, where a music base was equipped.
At the beginning of his career, music did not bring income, and therefore the band members had to work part-time.
In 2008, O. Torvald recorded his first album. Initially, the lyrics and music were created only by Halych. Later, his friend Mykola Raida, with whom they studied at the institute, joined the work on this.
In 2009 – 2010, Halych, together with rapper Andriy Shostak, founded the musical project “NOODLES”.
2015 – 2020
In 2015 and 2016, the group received the title of “The Most Festival Band of Ukraine”.
In the spring of 2015, Galich took part in the recording of the album of the Bahroma group “+-=” – together with musician Roman Bakharev, they performed the song “Sex, Drugs, Rock and Roll”.
In 2017, O.Torvald won the national selection for Eurovision. The group represented Ukraine with the song “Time”. According to the results of a joint vote of the jury and viewers, the composition took 24th place.
Also, at one time, Galich, at the invitation of producer Oleksandr Asauliuk, became the host of the trash show “Chips. Chixie. Lavender$” on the M1 TV channel. In particular, he was the host of the TV project “My First Wheelbarrow” on NLO TV.
2020 – tep. Time
On March 27, 2022, against the backdrop of a full-scale war, Halych, together with musician Sasha Chemerov, performed at the Lviv Market Square as part of the Ukrainian Art Front project to raise funds for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
On April 17, it became known that the singer joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As part of the 135th battalion of the 114th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade (Territorial Defense), he took part in the battles for Bakhmut. In the fall, together with his comrades-in-arms, he was surrounded during the defense of the village of Yampil in the Donetsk region, but the unit managed to get out without losses.
In August 2023, the singer and his comrades had an accident.
In October, Halych planned to go on a North American tour with the band “Druha Rika”, but the plans had to be abandoned due to the fact that the command did not provide permission to travel due to the tense situation at the front.
On June 2, 2024, a concert of the unknown band “Fatigue” took place on the main stage of the Dirty Dog festival. In the end, it turned out that in this way O.Torvald presented the new album “Fatigue”.
In October, Galich said that he was serving in Kyiv and was engaged in logistics support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He has the rank of senior lieutenant.
Marital Status
Halych’s wife’s name is Valeria. In 2013, they had a daughter, and in 2017, a son.
