Oksana Volodymyrivna Bilozir – singer, People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the IV-VI and VIII convocations, Minister of Culture and Arts of Ukraine (2005), Minister of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine (2005).
Place of Birth, Education
Bilozir was born on May 30, 1957 in the village of Smyha, Dubna district, Rivne region.
In 1976, she completed her studies at the Filaret Kolessa Lviv Music and Pedagogical College, and in 1981 at the Mykola Lysenko Lviv State Conservatory.
In 1999, she received a master’s degree in foreign policy and diplomacy after completing her studies at the Diplomatic Academy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
Career
Bilozir began her concert career back in 1979 as a soloist of the vocal and instrumental ensemble “Vatra”.
Since 1994, she has been a soloist of the Oksana team.
In 1996, she became a professor at the Department of Pop Singing of the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, headed the department, and also taught at the Kyiv State School of Variety and Circus Arts.
In 1996 – 1997 she worked as a teacher at the Kyiv State Institute of Culture.
Political Activities
Bilozir was a people’s deputy of Ukraine for four convocations.
She was elected twice from the “Our Ukraine” bloc, in 2007 – from the “Our Ukraine – People’s Self-Defense” association, and in 2016 – from the “Petro Poroshenko Bloc”.
During February – September 2005, she served as Minister of Culture and Arts of Ukraine. After that, he was the Minister of Culture and Tourism in the first government of Yulia Tymoshenko.
In the period 2004-2005, she headed the “Social Christian Party”.
Later, she joined the Our Ukraine party (NSNU), the honorary chairman of which was Viktor Yushchenko, and was a member of the political council of the political force. But in 2008, together with a number of party members, she announced her withdrawal.
In October 2012, she participated in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada of the VII convocation as an independent candidate, but lost to the candidate from the Party of Regions Vitaliy Zhuravsky.
During the early parliamentary elections in the fall of 2014, she ran for the Rada on the list of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc party under No. 80, but received a deputy mandate only in May 2016 after Yuriy Lutsenko, who headed the political force faction, was appointed Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
Marital Status
Bilozir has two sons: Andriy Bilozir from his first marriage, and Yaroslav Nedzelsky from his second.
The first husband was Igor Bilozir – a famous singer and composer, head of VIA “Vatra”, People’s Artist of Ukraine, who tragically died in May 2000.
With her second husband, Roman Nedzelsky, Bilozir was married from 1989 to 2022.
She is the godmother of the daughters of the fifth President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko – Yevgenia and Alexandra.
