Max Barskikh (Nikolai Nikolaevich Bortnik) is a Ukrainian singer and songwriter.
Place of Birth, Education
He was born on March 8, 1990 in the city of Kherson.
He studied at the Kherson Tavria Lyceum of Arts. After that, he moved to Kyiv and began his studies at the Kyiv Municipal Academy of Variety and Circus Arts.
Music career
In 2008, Barskikh took part in the selection for the musical project “Star Factory-2”, which was broadcast on Novy Channel.
Within two years of completing the project, he released his debut album “1: MAX BARSKIH”, shot six music videos and starred in a film together with Canadian-Belgian singer Lara Fabian.
At the beginning of 2010, he became a participant in the music show “Factory. Super Final.” In the same year, he received the MTV Europe Music Awards as the best Ukrainian artist.
In May 2010, he tried himself in cinema, having passed the casting for the musical film “Mademoiselle Zhivago”, in which Lara Fabian and composer Igor Krutoy took part.
In 2011, Barskikh presented the first 3D music video in the CIS countries for the song “Lost In Love | I’m losing you.” The video was directed by its producer, clip maker Alan Badoev.
On July 3 of the same year, the premiere of the new single “Atoms | Killer Eyes”.
On February 18, 2012, Barskikh took part in the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, where he scored 38 points and took second place. The victory was won by Gaitana, who received 41 points.
In May, his second studio album “Z.Dance” was released, which included mainly English-language compositions. In the same year, the singer presented his own horror musical called “Z.Dance”, which consisted of three parts.
In 2013, Max Barskikh released the first four parts of the video album “According to Freud”. The fourth story of this project became the video for his first Ukrainian-language song “Sky”.
In the same year, the singer gathered his own group of musicians and went on a concert tour of the cities of Ukraine with them.
On February 14, 2014, the world saw the new studio album “According to Freud”.
After that, Barskikh released four more studio albums:
- “Fogs” in 2016;
- “7” – 2019;
- “1990” – 2020;
- “Starfall” – in 2023.
Among his achievements also:
- victory in the nomination “Best Ukrainian Artist” according to MTV Europe Music Awards-2010;
- award of the MUZ-TV-2012 award in the category “Breakthrough of the Year”;
- The title of the most popular artist on the Ukrainian radio air at the end of 2011.
