Vsevolod Sergeevich Knyazev – Chairman of the Supreme Court (2021 – 2023).
Place of Birth, Education
He was born on May 25, 1979 in the city of Mykolaiv.
He received higher education at the Mykolaiv Humanitarian Institute of the Ukrainian State Maritime Technical University, as well as the Odessa National Law Academy.
Career
In 2001, he received the right to practice law.
He worked as a legal adviser, taught at the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding, and was engaged in advocacy.
In 2013, he became a judge of the Mykolaiv District Administrative Court. In 2015, he headed the court until 2017.
In the same year, his lawyer’s certificate was suspended.
In November 2017, after a competition, he joined the Supreme Court, and on December 12 of the same year he became the secretary of the Grand Chamber.
On October 22, 2021, at the plenum of the Supreme Court, he was elected chairman. 98 out of 169 judges voted for Knyazev’s appointment. He took the oath of office, and on December 1, he officially took office for a period of four years.
Criminal cases
On May 15, 2023, officers of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) detained Knyazev on suspicion of receiving a bribe in the amount of $2.7 million.
On May 6, 2023, at a meeting of the plenum of the Supreme Court, judges expressed no confidence in him. This led to the loss of the post of chairman, did not affect his status as a judge.
On January 31, 2024, bail was made for Knyazev. During the investigation, the amount of bail was revised seven times, gradually reducing it. Initially, the amount was 107 million hryvnias and eventually decreased to 18 million.
On August 6, the High Council of Justice decided to dismiss Knyazev from the post of judge of the Administrative Court of Cassation. On December 12, the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court considered his cassation appeal, but left the decision of the High Council of Justice unchanged.

He was previously married to Yulia Knyazeva. He has a daughter, Victoria, and a son, Volodymyr.
