Andriy Hryhorovych Pyshnyi – banker, Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (2022 – present), PhD in Law.

Place of Birth, Education

He was born on October 26, 1974 in the village of Dobrovody, Ternopil region.

In 1996, Pyshnyi received a higher education in the specialty “Jurisprudence”, graduating from Chernivtsi State University.

In 2005, he completed his studies at the Ukrainian Academy of Banking of the National Bank of Ukraine, having received a specialty in banking.

He is a candidate of legal sciences, having defended his dissertation on the topic “Legal status of state-owned banks of Ukraine”.

Career

In the period from 1996 to 2000, Pyshnyi worked at Chernivtsi State University as a trainee teacher, and later as an assistant at the Department of Constitutional, Administrative and Financial Law.

From 2000 to 2001, he held the position of Acting Head of the Legal Department at the Open Joint Stock Company (JSC) Oschadbank.

In 2001-2003, he was the Director of the Legal Support Department of OJSC Oschadbank, and from 2003 to 2007 he was the First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Bank. In the period from December 2004 to May 2005, he served as Chairman of the Board of Sberbank.

From March to May 2007, Pyshnyi held the position of First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Open Joint Stock Company “Ukreximbank”.

In May 2007, he was appointed Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine. He worked in this position until June 25, 2009.

Later, Pyshnyi became the chairman of the executive committee of the public organization (NGO) “Front for Change”.

On March 19, 2014, Pyshnyi was appointed Chairman of the Board of the Joint Stock Company “Oschadbank”. He worked in this position until October 2020. After that, the supervisory board of the bank decided to terminate his powers.

On October 7, 2022, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Pyshnyi to the post of Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine.

Political Activities

Since 2013, he has served as deputy chairman of the All-Ukrainian Union “Batkivshchyna” party.

In December 2012, he became a people’s deputy of Ukraine of the VII convocation, passing to the Verkhovna Rada on the list of the Batkivshchyna party. In the parliament, he served as the first deputy chairman of the Committee on Regulations, Parliamentary Ethics and Ensuring the Activities of the Verkhovna Rada.

Marital Status

He is married to Lyudmila Georgievna. He has two daughters – Svitlana and Daryna.
