Alexei Stanislavovich Sukhanov—journalist, television and radio host.
Place of Birth, Education
He was born on January 4, 1974, in Ivanovo, in the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR), into a family of engineers.
According to Sukhanov, he had dreamed of working in television since childhood: during his school years, he would recite articles from Soviet newspapers in front of a mirror, and as a teenager, he produced his own programs on the radio station of the commercial technical school, from which he later graduated with a degree in “food preparation technology.”
In 1997, he graduated from the School of Management at Moscow State University of Commerce.
Career
Sukhanov began his career at the Ivanovo Regional Radio Station, where he was hired as a host. He later worked at Ivanovo Regional Television.
After that, he went to Moscow for advanced training, where he stayed on to work as a correspondent for the “Mayak” radio station’s news service.
From 2001 until early 2006, he hosted the morning and afternoon editions of the program “Today” on the NTV television channel. After that, he hosted the afternoon show on City-FM radio.
That fall, he began working at Channel 5 as the anchor of the evening news program “Right Now.” Later, on the same channel, he became the host of the talk show “Velikaya Strana” as well as the news and analysis program “Glavnoe.”
From November 2008 to July 2011, he was the host of the program “Dialogue with the City,” and from April to September 2009, he was one of the hosts of the regional project “St. Petersburg Time.”
From 2010 to 2011, he hosted the daytime editions of the news program “Here and Now” on the “Dozhd” TV channel, the morning show “Morning on Dozhd,” and the program “Technologies of the Future” on the “TV3” TV channel.
In the fall of 2011, he began working for the “REN TV” television channel.
From December 2011 to August 2014, he was the anchor of the evening editions of the news program “News 24.”
Moving to Ukraine
From April 16, 2012, to February 23, 2022, Sukhanov served as the host of the talk show “Ukraine Speaks” on the “Ukraine” television channel.
In February 2014, he publicly supported Euromaidan. After that, he left the Russian Federation (RF) and ended his collaboration with the REN TV channel due to disagreements with the channel’s stance on the war in eastern Ukraine and other events in the country.
Starting on July 20, 2015, he served as the host of the cooking segment “Best Recipes” as part of the morning show “Morning with Ukraine” on the “Ukraine” TV channel. He later became the host of the program “Culinary Academy.”
Since 2019, he has been an expert on the “Amazing People” program on the “Ukraine” TV channel.
After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he remained in Kyiv and joined the territorial defense forces.
In December 2022, following the closure of the “Ukraine” TV channel and the revocation of the licenses held by oligarch Rinat Akhmetov’s“Media Group Ukraine,” Sukhanov began working with the “1+1” TV channel. There, he became the host of a new talk show called “The Whole Country Is Talking.”
