Lando Norris is a British racing driver, Formula 1 champion (2025). <\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Place of Birth, Education<\/h2>\n\n

He was born on November 13, 1999<\/strong> in Bristol, England. <\/p>\n\n

His father, Adam Norris, a former pension asset manager, was ranked 501st in the list of the richest people in the country in 2018. Mother – Siska Wauman. <\/p>\n\n

The racer also has two sisters and a brother Oliver, who at one time was professionally engaged in karting.<\/p>\n\n

Norris was educated at Millfield Boarding School in Street, Somerset. Later, he left it and continued to study with a personal tutor, studying physics and mathematics. <\/p>\n\n

Over time, the family moved to Glastonbury so that Norris could continue his racing career without hindrance.<\/p>\n\n

Early Career<\/h3>\n\n

Norris began his racing career at the age of 7<\/strong>, immediately making himself known at national competitions.<\/p>\n\n

In 2013, he played in the KF-Junior class and won the CIK-FIA European Championship, the CIK-FIA International Super Cup and the WSK Euro Series.<\/p>\n\n

The following year, he became the CIK-FIA World Karting Champion in the KF class as part of the Ricky Flynn Motorsport team, becoming the youngest champion in this category. In particular, he made his debut in car racing in the Ginetta Junior Championship series<\/strong>, where he took 3rd place in the overall standings, won 4 victories and won the Rookie Cup. <\/p>\n\n

In 2015, he signed a contract with Carlin Motorsport and made his debut in the Formula MSA championship (now British Formula 4). At the end of the season, he became the champion, winning 8 victories, 10 pole positions and 14 podiums. <\/p>\n\n

In the same year, he also competed in several stages of Formula 4 ADAC and Italian Formula 4 as part of the M\u00fccke Motorsport team, where he climbed the podium a total of 7 times and won 1 victory.<\/p>\n\n

In January 2016, Norris competed in the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand as part of the M2 Competition team. At the end of the season, he became the champion, winning 6 victories, in particular, he won the New Zealand Grand Prix. <\/p>\n\n

After that, he returned to Europe and competed in Formula Renault 2.0 with the Josef Kaufmann Racing team. He won both the Eurocup and the Northern European Cup, with a total of 11 wins and 10 consecutive pole positions in the Northern European Series. <\/p>\n\n

At the same time, he participated in the British Formula 3 BRDC, where he won 4 victories.<\/p>\n\n

In October of the year, as a guest driver, he competed in the final stage of the European Formula 3 at the Gockenheimerring circuit, preparing for the Macau Grand Prix.<\/p>\n\n

Macau finished 9th in qualifying, but dropped out of the qualifying race after an accident on the first lap. <\/p>\n\n

In the main race, Norris started from 26th position and finished 11th.<\/p>\n\n

In 2017, the driver spent a full season of European Formula 3 as part of the Carlin team. At the end of the season, he became the champion, scoring 9 victories, 20 podiums in 30 races and 8 pole positions. <\/p>\n\n

In November of the year, he performed for the second time at the Macau Grand Prix. He qualified second and finished second in the main race. <\/p>\n\n

The following weekend, he made his FIA Formula 2 debut<\/strong>, spending the final round of the season with the Campos Racing team at the Yas Marina circuit.<\/p>\n\n

In 2018, Norris spent a full season of FIA Formula 2 as part of the Carlin team with teammate Sette Kamara. He won the first race of the season in Bahrain, starting from pole position, but this victory remained the only one for him that season. <\/p>\n\n

Formula 1<\/h3>\n\n

In February 2017, Norris joined McLaren’s Young Driver Program<\/strong>. At the end of the year, he received the status of an official test and reserve pilot for the 2018 season. <\/p>\n\n

2019<\/h3>\n\n

In the 2019 season, Norris made his Formula 1 debut as McLaren’s main driver<\/strong>, becoming Sainz Jr.’s partner. He finished his first Australian Grand Prix in 12th place after starting from 8th position. <\/p>\n\n

Norris scored his first points in Formula 1 at the next stage in Bahrain, finishing 6th. <\/p>\n\n

At the French Grand Prix, he was 7th, but at the end of the race there were problems with hydraulics, which is why he finished 9th.<\/p>\n\n

At the stage in Austria, Norris took 6th place.<\/p>\n\n

The German Grand Prix started from 19th position due to fines for exceeding the limit of engine components. There was a loss of power during the race, which eventually led to a descent. <\/p>\n\n

At the Belgian Grand Prix, he broke through from 11th place to 5th position and held it almost until the finish line, but on the last lap he again faced a loss of power and was classified 11th.<\/p>\n\n

Norris finished in points in three consecutive races at the Italian Grand Prix, Singapore and Russia.<\/p>\n\n

At the Mexican Grand Prix, due to a mistake during a pit stop, Norris spent almost 2 minutes in the pits, and later retired from the race to preserve his technique.<\/p>\n\n

Norris finished the 2019 season with points in the final three Grand Prix.<\/p>\n\n

Norris finished his debut season in Formula 1 in 11th place overall,<\/strong> scoring 49 points. In particular, he signed a new multi-year contract with McLaren<\/strong>, which runs until the end of the 2022 season. <\/p>\n\n

2020<\/h3>\n\n

At the first stage of the 2020 season in Austria, the driver qualified 4th, but after a penalty by British driver Lewis Hamilton, he started 3rd. So he first climbed the podium and became the third youngest driver with a podium in the history of Formula 1<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

At the Styrian Grand Prix, he qualified 6th, but due to a penalty for overtaking under yellow flags, he started lower. Despite this, he managed to win back several positions at the end of the race and finished 5th. <\/p>\n\n

After an unsuccessful stage in Hungary, where Norris finished 13th, he managed to score points in 6 races in a row, starting with the British Grand Prix.<\/p>\n\n

At the Russian Grand Prix, he was injured already on the first lap and finished the race 15th, and at the Eiffel Grand Prix he was 6th, but retired due to a breakdown of the power unit. <\/p>\n\n

In Portugal, he finished 13th.<\/p>\n\n

At the rainy Turkish Grand Prix, Norris started from 14th position after a penalty, but was able to break through to 8th place and set the fastest lap of the race.<\/p>\n\n

At the stages in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi, Norris finished 4th and 5th, respectively. <\/p>\n\n

Norris finished the 2020 season in 9th place in the standings<\/strong>, scoring 97 points.<\/p>\n\n

2021<\/h3>\n\n

In the 2021 season, Norris remained at McLaren, and Daniel Ricciardo became his partner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

At the first stage in Bahrain, the driver started 7th and finished 4th.At the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, he initially showed 3rd time in qualifying, but due to a violation of the boundaries of the track, he started 7th. <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n

During the Monaco, Azerbaijan and Styria Grand Prix, Norris climbed to 5th place. <\/p>\n\n

At the Austrian Grand Prix, he qualified 2nd with a narrow gap to Dutch driver Max Verstappen<\/a> and finished 3rd, earning his third podium of the season.<\/p>\n\n

At the stage in Great Britain, he finished the race 4th, which allowed him to climb to 3rd place in the individual standings. <\/p>\n\n

At the Hungarian Grand Prix, he started 6th, after the first turn he was 3rd, but after a collision, he was seriously injured and retired from the race<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

At the Italian Grand Prix, he finished 4th in the sprint, but due to a penalty by Finnish racing driver Valtteri Bottas, he started 3rd. <\/p>\n\n

At the Russian Grand Prix, Norris won pole for the first time in his career<\/strong>. He was in the lead in the race for a long time, but at the end he was left on the slicks due to rain, while Hamilton switched to intermediate tires. As the precipitation intensified, Norris had to pit for 7th, after which he finished 7th and took an extra point for the fastest lap. <\/p>\n\n

In all 7 final races of the season, he scored points, but never rose above 7th place. <\/p>\n\n

Norris finished<\/strong> the 2021 season in 6th place in the standings. At that time, it was his best result in his career. <\/p>\n\n

2022<\/h3>\n\n

In February 2022, Norris extended his contract with McLaren <\/strong>until at least the end of the 2025 season. <\/p>\n\n

At the opening Bahrain Grand Prix, McLaren drivers finished outside the top 10. At the stages in Saudi Arabia and Australia, Norris began to score points. He won the team’s only podium of the season at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, finishing 3rd. <\/p>\n\n

In Miami, he qualified 8th, but retired after a collision with French pilot Pierre Gasly. <\/p>\n\n

At the Monaco Grand Prix, he finished 6th and set the fastest lap, and in Austria he started 15th, but eventually broke through to 7th place. <\/p>\n\n

During other Grand Prix: <\/p>\n\n
