{"id":3627,"date":"2026-07-10T14:15:39","date_gmt":"2026-07-10T11:15:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepersona.com.ua\/dmytro-yarosh-3627\/"},"modified":"2026-07-21T18:04:58","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T15:04:58","slug":"dmytro-yarosh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepersona.com.ua\/en\/military\/dmytro-yarosh-3627\/","title":{"rendered":"Dmytro Yarosh"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dmytro Anatolyevich Yarosh is a Ukrainian public and political figure, military serviceman, leader and founder of the organization &#8220;Right Sector (2014-2015), founding member of the organization &#8220;Trident&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Place of Birth, Education<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was born on <strong>September 30, 1971 <\/strong>in Dniprodzerzhinsk (now Kamianske), Dnipropetrovsk region.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2001, he graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the Ivan Franko Drohobych Pedagogical University.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Career  <\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yarosh began to engage in political activities in October 1988. A year later, in February, he joined the People&#8217;s Movement of Ukraine.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From 1989 to 1991 he served in the Soviet Army.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1994, <strong>he was one of the founders of the nationalist organization &#8220;Trident&#8221; <\/strong>named after Stepan Bandera and headed its regional branch.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1996, he joined the central committee of the organization. <strong> From 1996 to 1999, he led Trident<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since 2002, Yarosh has been the chief inspector of the Trizub organization and was a member of its Central Provod.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In January 2005, he began acting<strong> as the head of the Central Provod<\/strong>. Later, <strong>he again headed the organization<\/strong>, and later handed over the leadership to his deputy Andriy Stempytskyi.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In October 2010,<strong> he initiated the creation of a single Nationalist Movement <\/strong>and became its coordinator.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From April 1, 2013, he worked as an assistant-consultant to the MP from the UDAR party <a href=\"https:\/\/thepersona.com.ua\/en\/politicians\/valentyn-nalyvaichenko-5860\/\" id=\"1224\">Valentyn Nalyvaichenko<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The period of the Revolution of Dignity<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the end of November, during the Euromaidan in Kyiv, Yarosh <strong>was one of the initiators of the creation of the Right Sector movement<\/strong>. It brought together nationalist organizations and individual activists. In particular, he helped to form the public movement &#8220;Maidan Self-Defense&#8221;.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Initially, the leadership of the Right Sector almost did not participate in open politics. Only at the end of January 2014, the movement began to put forward its own demands to the authorities and declared itself as a separate socio-political force. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On February 20, 2014, Yarosh personally met with the then President <a href=\"https:\/\/thepersona.com.ua\/en\/politicians\/viktor-yanukovych-4036\/\" id=\"1672\">Viktor Yanukovych<\/a>. During the conversation, he rejected the offer of a truce.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next day, when opposition leaders presented an agreement to resolve the political crisis, the <strong>Right Sector opposed its terms<\/strong>. Representatives of the movement <strong>demanded the immediate resignation of Yanukovych<\/strong>, rather than the gradual implementation of political reforms.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yarosh said that the document did not contain clear obligations regarding the resignation of the president, the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada and the punishment of the heads of law enforcement agencies and executors of orders that killed people.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On February 26, 2014, during the presentation of candidates for the future government of Arseniy Yatsenyuk on the Maidan, Yarosh was offered the post of Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC).  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On March 8, Yarosh<strong> announced that he would participate in the presidential election<\/strong>. On April 1, the Central Election Commission (CEC) officially registered him as a candidate. According to the results of the vote, which took place on May 25, Yarosh received 127818 votes, or 0.70%.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">After the Revolution of Dignity<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From November 2014 to August 2019, <strong>he was a people&#8217;s deputy of the VIII convocation<\/strong>. In the Committee on National Security and Defense, he served as Deputy Chairman. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In early 2015, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Viktor Muzhenko and the leadership of the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps agreed to appoint Yarosh as an adviser to the Chief of the General Staff.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In November, Yarosh<strong> announced that he was leaving the post of leader of the Right Sector<\/strong>. He explained his decision by disagreements within the organization. According to him, some of the participants of the meeting independently determined the further course of movement and formed another Leader, offering him the role of Leader. However, he did not want to be a &#8220;wedding general&#8221;.     <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Later, Yarosh said that he did not plan to move to other political or public organizations.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the 2019 parliamentary elections, he was included in the top 5 of the list of the United Nationalist Bloc.
