Sergey Shakhov

Serhiy Volodymyrovych Shakhov – People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the VIII – IX convocations.

Place of Birth, Education

He was born on May 7, 1975 in the village of Sayak, former Kazakh SSR.

In 1993, he graduated from vocational school No. 21 in the city of Bryanka, Luhansk region, having received the specialty of a pastry chef.

He received higher education in several educational institutions. In 2005, he completed his studies at the University of Economics and Law “KROK” in the field of “Jurisprudence”, and in 2010 he received a master’s degree in law from the National Law Academy of Ukraine named after Yaroslav the Wise. In particular, he graduated from the Luhansk Theological University.

In 2012, he completed his studies at the Kharkiv Regional Institute of Public Administration with a degree in Public Administration.

Career

Shakhov founded the All-Ukrainian public organization “People’s Trust” and created the “Serhiy Shakhov Charitable Foundation”. In addition, he holds the position of director in the limited liability company (LLC) “Shakhov Sergey Vladimirovich”.

Political Activities

During 2006-2010, he was elected a deputy of the Luhansk Regional Council, after which he became a member of the executive committee of the Stakhanov City Council. In 2012, he headed a group of candidates for people’s deputies in the majoritarian constituencies of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, which became known as the “Shakhov Team”.

In 2012 and 2014, he participated in the parliamentary elections as an independent candidate, but both times he could not get into the Verkhovna Rada. At the end of 2013, he became a deputy of the Stakhanov City Council, having entered it from the Party of the Ukrainian People.

In the period from 2015 to 2016, he held a deputy mandate in the Severodonetsk City Council, where he was elected from the Nash Krai party.

In the summer of 2016, he became a people’s deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the VIII convocation. He got into parliament as a result of the midterm elections, representing “Our Land”. He is a member of the political council of the political force, and previously served as co-chairman of the party.

After 3 years, he was again elected to the Verkhovna Rada as an independent candidate, remaining a member of the Nash Krai party.

Since December 2019, she has been a member of the deputy group “Dovira”. In the parliament of the IX convocation, he works in the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management.

In 2020, Shakhov announced his intention to run for the post of Kyiv mayor from the Nash Krai party. According to the results of the elections, he received 0.22% of the vote.

Criminal case

In 2021, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NACP) suspected Shakhov of possibly entering false information into the declaration. In particular, it was about the failure to provide data on his common-law wife.

In 2022, after the completion of investigative actions, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) reported that Shakhov registered property worth about UAH 88 million for his common-law wife. As a result, he did not declare two luxurious houses in the cottage town “Sunny Valley”, the total area of which exceeds 2000 square meters. m, as well as 27 land plots with an area of almost 115 hectares, 13 Kyiv apartments, 8 parking spaces, a country house, two cars, corporate shares in various companies and profits from the sale of real estate.

In 2023, the panel of judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) ruled to forcibly bring Shakhov to court. Subsequently, he was put on the wanted list.

Marital Status

He is married to Inna Zhurba. He has four children: sons Nikita, Serhiy and Nestor, as well as a daughter Ivanna.
