Yevhen Vladimirovich Muraev is a people’s deputy of Ukraine of the VII-VIII convocations, the leader of the banned pro-Russian party “Nashi”.
Place of Birth, Education
He was born on December 2, 1976 in the city of Zmiiv, Kharkiv region.
He received his higher education at Kharkiv State University (now V. Karazin Kharkiv National University), which he graduated in 1999 with a degree in Finance and Credit.
In 2014, he graduated from the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University.
Career
He worked in senior positions in private business. He held the position of director in the limited liability company (LLC) “Enclave”, which specialized in wholesale trade in petroleum products.
In the period from 2001 to 2007, he was the director of MKM-Kharkiv LLC, and in 2009 he headed Eastern Financial Group LLC as CEO.
In 2014 , he acquired several media outlets, including the NewsOne TV channel, which he remained the owner until 2018. After the sale of the media asset, he founded the Nash TV channel. In 2021, the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine imposed sanctions against the broadcaster, and in 2023, the channel’s license was revoked.
Political Activities
In 2006, he was elected a deputy of the Kharkiv Regional Council from the Viche party. Four years later, he again received a deputy mandate, but this time as a representative of the Party of Regions.
In the spring of 2010, he was appointed to the post of head of the Zmiyiv District State Administration (RSA).
In 2012, he became a people’s deputy of Ukraine, winning the elections in the 181st single-mandate constituency in the Kharkiv region. In the Verkhovna Rada, he joined the Party of Regions faction.
In 2014, he was again elected to parliament in the same constituency.
In the fall of 2018, he announced his withdrawal from the political project “For Life”, founded by Vadym Rabinovych, and created his own party called “Nashi”.
In 2019 , he ran for the presidency of Ukraine, but later withdrew his candidacy in favor of the then leader of the Opposition Bloc, Oleksandr Vilkul. During the parliamentary elections of the same year, he headed the electoral list of the “Opposition Bloc”, but the party did not overcome the barrier to the Verkhovna Rada.
In the summer of 2022, the court decided to ban the activities of the Nashi party. In September of the same year, journalist Mykhailo Tkach reported that Muraev and his family lived in Vienna.
Marital Status
Previously, he was married to Valeria Muraeva (now Valeria Dziuba). He has two sons from this marriage: Igor and Mikhail.
Today he is married to Ekaterina Maraeva. The couple has two children.
