Anton Eduardovich Polyakov is a Ukrainian politician, MP of the IX convocation from the Servant of the People, non-partisan.
Place of Birth, Education
He was born on November 11, 1987 in Chernihiv.
In 2004, he graduated from Chernihiv Collegium No. 11. After that, he served in the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in Odesa. He was responsible for the protection of rolling stock during the transfer of prisoners.
In 2020, he completed his studies at the Kyiv University of Market Relations with a degree in law.
Career
In 2010, he registered the trademark (TM) “Count” and a store selling floor coverings. Later, he launched another LaminateExpert store.
Since 2015, he has been a volunteer of the Nash Krai party together with activist Serhiy Hryvko.
On October 4, 2021, on the air of the Ukraine 24 TV channel, Polyakov claimed that people’s deputies from the Servant of the People were allegedly given money in the dressing room of the Verkhovna Rada during the consideration of the law on oligarchs.
Political Activities
From August 29, 2019 to October 8, 2021, Podolyak was a people’s deputy of the Verkhovna Rada (Verkhovna Rada) from the Servant of the People. He worked in the Rada Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy and chaired the subcommittee and headed the subcommittee on compliance with anti-corruption legislation in the field of reforming the military-industrial complex.
On November 15, together with MP Anna Skorokhod , he was expelled from the Servant of the People faction due to non-voting for draft laws on which there is a joint decision. Polyakov, in turn, called the decision a “political reprisal.” According to him, this was explained to him by the fact that he criticized the faction in his Telegram channel.
On December 16, the politician left the Servant of the People party.
In May 2020, he was included in the list of 52 people who filed an appeal to the Constitutional Court demanding to appeal the “Law on Amnesty for Participants of the Revolution of Dignity”.
On April 6, Polyakov submitted thousands of amendments to the second reading of the draft law on banks and banking. The Rada considered the document at the request of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in order to prevent the possible return of PrivatBank to its former owners by court decision.
In total, the politician, together with three other people’s deputies, submitted about 13 thousand amendments. At the same time, the Anti-Corruption Action Center (ACA) called these amendments a flood in order to block the adoption of the draft law.
On June 30, Polyakov joined the deputy group “For the Future”. During the local elections in 2020, he ran for the post of mayor of Chernihiv from the party of the same name.
Death/Fatalities
On the morning of October 8, 2021, the National Police announced Polyakov’s death. According to official information, he became ill during a taxi ride, ambulance doctors tried to resuscitate him, but eventually declared him dead. The initial version of the autopsy was as follows: “death due to acute coronary insufficiency, acute coronary heart disease.”
Later, the investigation said that it was considering several possible causes of death, including a chronic illness that could be fatal, as well as poisoning with an unknown substance – both independently and with the participation of a third party.
On October 10, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported that according to the results of a toxicological examination, a small amount of alcohol and the drug methadone were found in Polyakov’s body.
Marital Status
Polyakov was married and had two daughters.
Some media wrote that since 2021, the politician has lived with Skorokhod.
