Vasyl Vasylovych Maliuk – Head of the Security Service of Ukraine (2023 – current time), Lieutenant General, Candidate of Legal Sciences.

He was born on February 28, 1983 in Korostyshiv, Zhytomyr region.
In 2005, he completed his studies at the National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) with a degree in Jurisprudence.
He also received a PhD in Law.
Career
Since 2001, he served in the state security agencies. During this period, he worked in the regional departments of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), where he gradually climbed the career ladder – from an operative to the deputy head of the department. As part of this work, he headed a department specializing in the fight against corruption and organized crime.
In 2014, he took part in the anti-terrorist operation. During this time, he received the status of a participant in hostilities.
From January 2020 to March 13, 2020, he held the position of First Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine, responsible for combating corruption and organized crime.
From March 13, 2020 to July 26, 2021, he held the position of First Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine and headed the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime in the Central Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine.
From February 16 to February 28, 2022, he worked as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
From March 3, 2022 to February 2023, he again headed the post of First Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, and on March 25, 2022, he received the military rank of Brigadier General.
On July 18, 2022, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, after the removal of Ivan Bakanov from the post of head of the SBU, appointed Maliuk as interim head of the SBU.
Already in 2023, the Verkhovna Rada decided to appoint Maliuk as head of the SBU.
