Serhiy Vasilyevich Deineko – Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (2019 – present), Major General.
Place of Birth, Education
Deynenko was born on April 5, 1975 in Birobidzhan, Jewish Autonomous Region of the Russian Federation.
He received higher education in:
- Academy of Border Troops of Ukraine named after Bohdan Khmelnytsky;
- the Joint Institute of Military Intelligence at the National Defense Academy of Ukraine;
- Uzhhorod National University.
Career
From September 1996 to July 2011, he worked in the operational-search units of the State Border Protection Bodies of the State Border Guard Service, and in the period from July 2011 to August 2014, he held the position of head of the Luhansk Border Guard Detachment.
From August to September 2014, he was Deputy Head of the Eastern Regional Department.
From September to November 2014, he worked as Deputy Head of the Southern Regional Department, and in the period from November 2014 to June 2019, he held the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Operational Activities in the Administration of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
On June 13, 2019, according to the decree of President Volodymyr Zelensky, he was appointed head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Awards
On August 24, 2013, he was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, third degree, and on June 20, 2014, he received the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, second degree.
Marital Status
Married. He has a son and a daughter.
