Oleksandr Poklad – Major General of the Security Service of Ukraine, Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine (2023 – current time), Head of the Counterintelligence Department of the Security Service of Ukraine (2021 – 2023), lawyer, Candidate of Legal Sciences, Hero of Ukraine (2025).
Place of Birth, Education
According to media reports, he was born on July 6, 1974 in the Poltava region.
After completing his studies at the Poltava school, he continued his education at Kharkiv Law University (now Yaroslav the Wise National Law University), where he received a law degree in 1996.
Career
After graduating from the university, Poklad began serving in the police of the Kharkiv region. He started as an operative in the department for combating organized crime.
Since 2006, he has had a lawyer’s certificate, but since 2015 it has been suspended.
From 2007 to 2012, he was an assistant to the People’s Deputy of the “Regional” Ravil Safiullin. After that, on a voluntary basis, he helped the deputy from the Party of Regions and the Opposition Bloc Ivan Myrnyi.
At one time, he headed the 5th Directorate of the Counterintelligence Department of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). Under his leadership, a special operation was carried out to detain employee Yuri Rasyuk and Major General Valery Shaitanov, who were suspected of collaborating with the special services of the Russian Federation (RF).
On November 30, 2021, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Poklad head of the SBU Counterintelligence Department.
A year later, on April 17, he received the rank of brigadier general.
In 2023, Zelenskyy appointed Poklad deputy head of the SBU.
On January 6, 2024, he was awarded the rank of Major General.
On May 15, 2025, Poklad became a member of the Ukrainian delegation at negotiations with Russia in Istanbul.
Awards
Among Poklad’s awards:
- January 22, 2016 – Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, III degree;
- August 21, 2017 – Order “For Courage” III degree;
- March 24, 2020 – Order “For Courage” II degree;
- October 1, 2025 – the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the Golden Star.
