Place of Birth, Education
He was born on June 28, 1981 in Kabul, Afghanistan.
In 1998, he completed his studies at the Technical Lyceum of the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv, and in 2004 – at the Department of Information and Measuring Equipment of the Faculty of Aviation and Space Systems of Kyiv Polytechnic University, where he received an engineering degree.
Career
He began his career in journalism in the fall of 2004, becoming a correspondent of the Kyiv news department at the news agency (IA) “Context-Media”.
From July 2005 to June 2007, he worked as a correspondent for the newspaper “Kommersant“, and in January 2006 he joined the team of the online publication “Ukrainska Pravda”, where he was engaged in journalistic investigations and worked as a special correspondent.
In June 2007, he began working as an editor and special correspondent for the program “Freedom of Savik Shuster” on the Inter TV channel. Later, after the creation of Savik Shuster’s Studio, he served as an editor in the project.
In November 2009, he became the host of the program “Black and White”, created as a joint project of Savik Shuster’s Studio and TVi TV channel.
In December 2010, he announced the termination of cooperation with Savik Shuster’s studio, noting that this decision was mutual and without conflicts. However, at the beginning of 2011, he resumed work with the studio, where for some time he acted as the author and host of the program “After Live”, which was broadcast on the “First National”. Two months later, he left this project, arguing his decision with cases of censorship.
He is one of the founders and editor-in-chief of the public organization “Hromadske Television”.
In 2015, together with Serhiy Leshchenko , he began teaching at the School of Journalism of the Ukrainian Catholic University.
In July 2015, the then head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs , Arsen Avakov, announced the appointment of Nayem as the curator of the launch of the patrol police project in the Transcarpathian region.
On November 11 of the same year, he was appointed Deputy Director General of the State Concern “Ukroboronprom”. He was fired in April 2021.
On June 23, 2021, he became an adviser to the Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov, acting on a voluntary basis.
From August 4, 2021 to January 27, 2023, he served as Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, after which he was appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers to the post of Head of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure.
On June 18, 2024, he was dismissed from this position by a decision of the government.
Political Activities
In the fall of 2014, in early elections, he was elected a people’s deputy to the Verkhovna Rada on the list of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc party. He held the position of deputy chairman of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc parliamentary faction, but in September 2016 he was recalled from this position. He worked as a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on European Integration.
On February 28, 2019, he officially announced his withdrawal from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction.
Awards
In 2010, he became a laureate of the Oleksandr Kryvenko Prize “For Progress in Journalism”.
He participated in the journalistic movement “Stop censorship!”.

He has a son, Mark-Micah.
He has a brother, Masi Nayyem, a lawyer and public figure.
