Gennadiy Bogolyubov

Gennady Borisovich Bogolyubov is an entrepreneur, one of the co-owners of the Privat group.

Place of Birth, Education

He was born on January 20, 1962 in Dniprodzerzhynsk.

He received higher education at the Dnipropetrovsk Civil Engineering Institute.

Career

After completing his studies at the university, Bogolyubov began working as a civil engineer in the Dniprovskprombud trust. In 1990, he switched to entrepreneurial activity, starting to create private capital together with Ihor Kolomoisky through the trade in computer equipment.

In 1992, he became one of the founders of the commercial bank PrivatBank. Later, together with partners, he created a business group, which received the unofficial name “Privat”.

Statics Assets

The Privat Business Group controls a significant part of the oil refining industry and the retail market of petroleum products in Ukraine, as well as almost the entire ferroalloy market in the country.

According to media reports, Palmary Enterprises Ltd, owned by Bogolyubov, has acquired Consolidated Minerals, one of Australia’s largest manganese ore mining companies. Thanks to this, Bogolyubov gained control over about 30% of the world ferroalloy market.

In 2013, Boris Lozhkin acquired Bogolyubov’s share in preparation for the sale of the UMH Group media holding to the VETEK group of companies.

In 2016, PrivatBank was nationalized.

On October 5, 2020, Bogolyubov filed a lawsuit with the Commercial Court of Kyiv, demanding the return of 33.2525% of the shares he owned before nationalization, but the court the following year granted the bank’s petition and left Bogolyubov’s lawsuit without action.

Rating of the richest people in Ukraine and the world

In March 2008, Forbes magazine included Bogolyubov in the list of the richest people in the world, where he took 260th place. His fortune was then estimated at $ 4 billion. Among Ukrainians, he took fourth place, losing to Rinat Akhmetov, Victor Pinchuk and his business partner Ihor Kolomoisky, whose fortune was $200 million more.

In 2012, he took fourth place in the ranking of the “Top 100 richest Ukrainians” according to “Correspondent”, with a declared fortune of $ 3.25 billion.

In 2014, according to NV, Bogolyubov took second place in the ranking of the “Top 100 richest Ukrainians”, having a fortune of $ 2.6 billion.

In 2017, Bogolyubov took second place among the richest Ukrainians and 1468th place in the world ranking of the richest people according to Forbes magazine. His fortune was then estimated at $ 1.4 billion. In 2021, according to the same version, his net worth increased to $ 1.7 billion.

Marital Status

He has five children.

According to media reports, he is married to Emine Dzhaparova, former First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
