Oscar Jack Piastri is an Australian racing driver who drives for the McLaren team in Formula 1.

Career
In 2016 – 2017, Piastri competed in the Formula 4 UAE Championship series for the Dragon F4 team, where he took part in 11 races and took 6th place overall. At the same time, he scored 94 points and twice reached the podium.
During 2017, he started in the F4 British Championship as part of the TRS Arden Junior Team. In 30 races, he won 6 victories, the same number of poles and 5 fastest laps, a total of 13 times he was on the podium. This allowed him to finish 2nd in the championship with 376.5 points. In the same season, he competed in Formula Renault NEC with the Arden Motorsport team, where he played only 2 races, and finished the year in 21st position with 26 points.
In 2018, Piastri continued his career in the Formula Renault Eurocup, racing for Arden Motorsport. He took part in 20 races, climbed the podium three times and scored 110 points, which brought him 8th place in the championship. He also started in several stages of Formula Renault NEC, but did not earn points there.
The 2019 season was a breakthrough for him: as part of the R-ace GP in the Formula Renault Eurocup , he spent 19 races, where he won 7 wins, 5 poles and 6 fastest laps. In total, he was among the top three 11 times and became the champion of the series with 320 points.
In January 2020, Oscar Piastri joined the Renault Sport Academy program. After winning the Formula 3 championship that same year, he tested a Formula 1 car for the first time in October. The test took place at the Bahrain International Circuit, where he drove a Renault R.S.18 along with other academy members.
In 2021, he remained in the renovated Alpine Academy and in December took part in post-season tests for young drivers at the Yas Marina circuit, where he got behind the wheel of an Alpine A521 car.
After winning the Formula 2 title, Piastri received the status of reserve driver for the Alpine team for the 2022 season. In addition, by agreement between the teams, he was available as a reserve driver for McLaren as well. Throughout the year, he took part in several Alpine test races in the A521 car, including at the Circuit of the Americas, Lusail and Silverstone.
McLaren boss Andreas Seidl also confirmed that on the eve of the São Paulo Grand Prix, the Australian underwent a two-day private test of a pre-specification car at the Paul Ricard circuit.
Formula 1
In 2023, Oscar Piastri joined the McLaren team, where he became Lando Norris’ partner. Before that, Alpine agreed to terminate the driver’s contract early, which allowed him to take part in post-season testing immediately after the 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
In the same year, he made his Formula 1 debut as part of the McLaren F1 Team. During the season, he spent 22 races, climbed the podium twice, scored 97 points and took 9th place at the end of the championship.
The 2024 season has become much more successful for him. In 24 races, he won 2 wins, 1 pole and 8 podiums, earning 292 points. He finished the year in 4th position in the overall standings.
In 2025, after 14 stages, Piastri has 6 wins, 4 poles and 4 fastest laps, while finishing in the top 3 12 times.
