Marlon Santos

Marlon Santos da Silva Barbosa is a Brazilian footballer and defender.

He was born on September 7, 1995 in the Brazilian city of Duqui de Caxias.

Career

He is a pupil of the Brazilian club Fluminense, in which he played his debut match in Serie A against Sao Paulo on May 22, 2014 .

In 2016, he was loaned to Barcelona, and on November 23 of the same year, he played for the first time for the main team in a Champions League match against Celtic, replacing Gerard Piqué.

At the beginning of 2017, the Catalan club bought out his transfer for 5 million euros, signing a four-year deal with the footballer.

In the summer, Santos moved to the French Nice, but spent only one season there.

On August 16, 2018, the rights to the player were bought by the Italian Sassuolo for 6 million euros.

And on June 22, 2021, it became known that Santos signed a five-year contract with Shakhtar Donetsk. According to media reports, the transfer cost the Ukrainian club 12 million euros.

In the summer of the same year, he participated in the World Youth Championship in New Zealand, where he reached the final with the team and won silver medals. Santos took the field in matches against Hungary, Nigeria, Uruguay, Portugal, Senegal and Serbia.
