Place of Birth, Education
He was born on July 9, 1968 in the city of Vinnytsia.
In 1992, he received the qualification of a history teacher at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi State University.
In 2010, he completed his studies at the National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine with a specialization in “Management at the Regional and Local Levels”.
Career
During 1987 – 1989 he served in the military.
In 1992, he began working at the Vinnytsia Technical School of Meat and Dairy Industry, where he taught history and social studies until 1997.
In the period from 1998 to 2006, he held senior positions in commercial structures. In particular, he worked as deputy director of the limited liability company (LLC) “AMIK”.
Political Activities
In 2002, he became a deputy of the Vinnytsia City Council for the first time.
In 2006 and 2010, he was again elected to the city council from the People’s Union “Our Ukraine” party, and later from the “Conscience of Ukraine”. After the elections, he served as secretary of the Vinnytsia City Council.
In 2006, he also ran for the Verkhovna Rada from Our Ukraine, but without success. At that time, he was a member of the party.
In February 2014, he began acting as mayor of Vinnytsia after Volodymyr Groysman left office, heading the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine.
The following year, he was officially elected mayor of Vinnytsia. He was nominated by the Vinnytsia European Strategy party and received 48.21% of the votes in the first round and 63.92% in the second.
In 2020, he again won the mayoral election, but this time from the Ukrainian Strategy of Groysman party. He won the election in the first round, gaining the support of 65.93% of voters.
Marital Status
He is married to Natalia Morgunova. The couple has a daughter, Veronica.
