Carlos Alcaraz Garfia is a Spanish professional tennis player.

He was born on May 5, 2003 in Murcia, Spain, to Carlos Alcaraz and Virginia Garfia. He has three brothers – Álvaro, Sergio and Jaime.
He started playing tennis at the age of 4 at his father’s school. At the age of 15 he joined the Equelite academy near El Palmar, where he began training under Juan Carlos Ferrero.
Career
2015 – 2020
At the age of 16, Alcaraz made his debut in the main draw of the ATP tournament, and in February 2019 at the Rio Open he received a wild card and beat compatriot Albert Viñolas Ramos in the first round.
At the age of 17, he overcame the qualification of the Australian Open and became the youngest participant in the men’s singles. At the tournament, he won his first victory at the Grand Slam level, after which he completed his performances in the second round.
Subsequently, he made history at the Madrid Open as the youngest winner of the match, surpassing Rafael Nadal’s record. In the next round, he lost to Nadal on the day of his 18th birthday.
2021 – 2025
In 2021, Alcaraz won the Open de Oeiras III tournament, which at that time became the most significant title in his career. Since May 24, 2021, he entered the top of the youngest players in the ranking for the first time.
At the French Open, he reached the third round of the Grand Slam tournament for the first time, beating Nikoloz Basilashvili.
In July, he reached the final of the ATP tournament at the competition in Umaz. He subsequently won his debut ATP title, becoming one of the youngest champions on the tour and the youngest Spaniard to achieve this achievement in many years.
At Wimbledon in the same year, he finished his performances in the second round. Later, at the tournament in Winston-Salem, he reached the semifinals.
At the US Open, Alcaraz made a loud statement, beating one of the leaders of the world ranking and reaching the fourth round. Subsequently, he reached the quarterfinals, but the performance ended in defeat due to a leg injury in the quarterfinal match.
At the Erste Bank Open tournament in Vienna, he beat the 7th racket of the world Matteo Berrettini. This victory was his second over a player from the top 10 and allowed him to make his debut in the top 35 of the ranking as the youngest tennis player on November 2, 2021.

On September 12, 2022, he won the US Open, defeating Casper Ruud in the final, and became the youngest first racket in the world in history.
He did not play at the 2023 Australian Open due to injury. At Rolland Garros, he reached the semifinals, where he lost to Novak Djokovic. Already in the summer of the same year, at Wimbledon, he reached the final and took revenge on Djokovic, winning the title in a five-set match.
After Wimbledon, Alcaraz’s confrontation with Djokovic continued at the Cincinnati Masters, where they met again in the final, and this time the Serb won. Alcaraz won his first trophy in 2024 in March, defending his title at the Indian Wells Masters, where he beat Medvedev in the final.

In the summer of 2025, he reached the Wimbledon final for the third time in a row, but this time he lost. He took revenge in August at the Masters in Cincinnati.
